We are heading off to the Bahamas on a 4 night Carnival cruise!

I think I want to to go on a dolphin encounter sometime but man there are so many!

Also we wouldn't mind seeing Atlantis but the price seems really steep for a one day visit.

Any advice? Any suggestions or recommendations?

When you say expensive, are you referring to the cruise ship excursion to Atlantis? If so, there are less pricey alternatives to see Atlantis, one of which includes purchasing a day pass at Atlantis and taking a taxi. I've heard of many cruisers who get a room for the day at the Comfort Suites on Atlantis property, which would include the bracelet that gets you admission to pool, aqua park, waterslides, etc. A lot depends on when you're going. January in the Bahamas can be a little chilly, sometimes too cool to really enjoy the water play. Spring break time in Feb/March can be really crowded.

What about a catamaran adventure? Sail on a catamaran and then choose an hour of snorkeling or kayaking.

Maybe a sail and snorkel trip on a yacht, half or whole day.

Or maybe a day at one of Bahama's beautiful beaches - just the cost of a taxi ride.

Just a few ideas. Have fun, whatever you decide!

Congrats on your cruise. We have gone to Atlantis a number of times. My suggestion is the land taxi. While the water taxi is cheaper, you spend a lot of time waiting for the darn thing to fill up.

We never paid for an excursion at the Atlantis. We wandered around, ate, gambled, shopped, etc. Of course they will charge you if you want to use their facilities.

We also did a catamaran ride the last time were were there. Well worth the money and the snorkeling was really good.

There is also a straw market where you can wander around and buy truly worthless crap.

Have a great cruise
