This was my first time cruising and would probably not have ever gone on one if it wasn't for this particular special event...Rock n roll Holiday Escape. What I came to realize while on board was this was a private group booking by Clear Channel radio and other than Carnival providing the space for various events and concerts, the cruiseline had very little to do with it. Many on board had no idea that they were on a ship with rock n roll bands. Some were upset as they would have liked to participated if they had known about it when they booked their cruises.
As for the Triumph...just beautiful. Its so big I would sometimes forget I was even on a ship. I felt more like I was in one of the big casinos on the Vegas strip. There were a lot of people on board but everyone was accomodated with food, beach chairs, slot machines or whatever usually without any wait. Getting on and off at the ports was a breeze as well. One complaint would be such short stays at each port but I suppose they have to keep to a schedule.
The entertainment for this cruise was simply Rock n roll history in the making. The main Rome lounge was the perfect intimate venue for seeing Journey, Styx and REO and the bands all agreed about this at various times on the cruise. I also took in a couple comedy shows there as well and they were very good.
Our stateroom was nice with a balcony but a little smaller than I expected. Our cabin steward keep the room clean and was attentive to whatever our needs were.
Overall this was a very good cruising experience for us and we are likely to cruise again in the near future and enjoy just the aspect of cruising itself (there were a lot of distractions on this one with all the concerts and meet and greets, etc...). This is my first review to write and I am sure I have left many things out. If you have any questions or would like to know details feel free to post and I will do my best to answer!
