NCL owns both Norwegian Cruise Lines and Orient Cruise Lines. NCL Spirit was built for Orient as Superstar Leo. It had a very oriental atmosphere. After this past summer in Alaska, they shifted Superstar Leo from Orient to NCL and after a refurbishment they began alternating 5 and 9 day Caribbean cruises. The review I have seen have been good. She will be moving to year round cruising from New York in the fall of 2005.

NCL originated "Freestyle" where there is never a dress code required, although there is an optional formal night, and you can eat in any of as many as 11 different restaurants onboard (all open seating) with 1-2 specialty restaurants with a small cover charge. Freestyle also allows you to leave your carryon's in the cabin the morning of departure while you eat instead of hauling them to breakfast, etc.
