I went with a Gateway Media Center PC,

250 GB HD/7200 RPM with 2MB cache

9 in 1 memory card reader

1024 MB DDR Dual Channel Memory

AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual Core Processor

3800+ 2.0GHZ, 2000 MHZ, 512 cache

CD rewritable ultra speed/Double Layer 16x multi format

DVD-R/RW

Microsoft XP

Samsung 17" flat monitor

This machine is a lot faster then the old one with more memory. I like the DVD RW capibility. My next step this week is to get Road Runner because "dial up" is still way to slow. There is no other DSL provider in our neighborhood. I don't presume to know what all the stats mean on this new computer but all I know is it works! and I should not need to buy a new one for many years.

Schatje we went with the basic (cheapest!!!) but it did come with a flat screen monitor   really nice, and we have wireless in the store so when I'm not doing anything important I can log on.

ps Joey that would be 1000 not 100, but who knows maybe I'll be like eagles_forest and start posting like crazie
