Are worries about losing your job holding you back from booking a cruise? Consider Norwegian Cruise Line, which is following in the footsteps of JetBlue in offering "job loss insurance" to customers.

The line's BookSafe Travel Protection plan, unveiled today, will give cruisers full cash reimbursement if they need to cancel a cruise in the event of job loss.

"In this challenging economic environment, we are offering a safety net for guests who want to book a cruise, but are uncertain about what the future holds," says NCL executive Andy Stuart.

The new coverage is being added to the line's existing travel insurance plan, administered by BerkelyCare and underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh. Prices start at $29, depending on the cruise fare paid.

No other line offers job loss insurance as part of its travel insurance plan.

Good marketing tool on their part. I'm sure that other lines will follow (for a fee, of course). Not all of us can book at the last minute (we're trying, but just can't get it together). So having a protection clause about job security added to the insurance is a smart move. Let's just hope we don't have to use it.
