If you do that be sure to visit Fort Rodd Hill. It has an amazing light house. It was built to fend of Japanese attacks in WW 1.

do they have facilities to rent a car close to the Pier in Victoria?

I imagine they would pick you up at the ship - it's only a short walk into town anyway - but not sure where the car rentals would be. We have walked off in ports and been picked up in the past.

Sooke is also only a short drive - and they have some great restaurants and a park called Wiffenspit - beautiful scenery.
