Would you pay $499 to have a butler draw you a bath?

That's the cost of the new Mediterranean Soak experience unveiled today by Norwegian Cruise Line.

Available to passengers in suites on Norwegian's 12 ships, the experience involves a butler who draws a bath for passengers with French Verbena bubbles and serves a bottle of chilled Dom Perignon champagne and sturgeon caviar.

The service is part of a new Bath Butler menu for passengers in butler-served suites that will include five other offerings for adults that cost $99 a piece. There also is a bath experience for kids that costs $49.

Among the $99 offerings is a Mexican Riviera Retreat that includes a lime exfoliating body scrub with loofah, and a margarita nightcap (made from 100% agave tequila, premium triple orange liqueur and fresh squeezed limes). Another option, Caribbean Calm, brings a passion fruit bath gel with exfoliator gloves, topped off with a hand-muddled Mojito.

The amounts Norwegian is charging top customers in suites to have a butler-drawn bath is notable. A number of other cruise lines that boast butler service with suites such as Silversea Cruises offer such services for free.

At Seabourn Cruise Line, suite stewardesses will draw a Pure Pampering bath with Molton Brown organic bathing solutions as a standard part of in-suite amenities. The bath preparations include flower petals strewn across the water.

It all sounds so wonderful...the $499 one is a bit out of my price range, though. I might go for a $99 one if I were to splurge a bit on myself . I don't even get my hair or nails done...do it myself, so guess I would be worthy of splurging on a ship once or twice. {smile}
