Norwegian Cruise Line announced that it is launching a new campaign “Tell us your story!” rewarding customers with on-board credits of up to 500 US $. The on-board credits are available to those guests who book a Mediterranean cruise in summer 2011 on board Norwegian Epic or Norwegian Jade before May 2, 2011 and tell the cruise line their personal Freestyle Cruising story.

"There are so many good reasons to go on a Mediterranean cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line this summer, whether it’s discovering the cultural treasures of Southern Europe or seeing the world-renowned Blue Man Group, exclusively at sea on board Norwegian Epic. Or maybe our guests want to celebrate a special occasion on board, a birthday, their wedding anniversary or just want to make their holiday dream come true – we would like to know our guests’ personal Freestyle Cruising highlights and hear what they are most looking forward to on board”, says Jurgen Stille, Director Sales Continental Europe. "Our varied offers both on board and ashore should make the choice easy since it is not without reason that we have been named Europe’s Leading Cruise Line three years in a row”, Stille continues.

In order to receive the on-board credit (valid per stateroom, based on double occupancy), the guests simply tell their story to their travel agency or the Norwegian Cruise Line reservations department. In addition guests can send in their story via ncl.eu/mystory. Among those stories received in written, the cruise line will select the most exciting one and double the on-board credit for the winner.

The promotion applies to all four- and seven-night cruises on board Norwegian Epic from/to Barcelona as well as on the six- to 15-night cruises on board Norwegian Jade from/to Venice in summer 2011. For instance, on the seven-night cruise „Barcelona & Western Mediterranean“ on board Norwegian Epic, guests receive 100 US $ on-board credit in Studios and Inside Staterooms, 200 US $ in Balcony Staterooms and 400 US $ in Mini Suites and Suites. The same on-board credits are available on the seven-night itineraries “Venice & Greek Isles” and “Venice & Eastern Mediterranean” on board Norwegian Jade from/to Venice. On-board credits in exchange for Freestyle Cruising stories are also available on the cruises “Venice & Greece” (July 9, 2011), “Venice & The Aegean Sea” as well as on Norwegian Jade’s cruise combinations.

With their on-board credits, guests can for example enjoy a wellness treatment in the luxurious Mandara Spa, dine in one of the many international specialty restaurants on board or book one of the varied shore excursions.

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that three new Legends in Concert tribute artists will make their debut on Norwegian Epic's May 18, 2011 Western Mediterranean sailing from Barcelona, Spain, where the ship will homeport until October 23, 2011. The three Legends will perform on board through November 5, 2011 and represent some of the world's most famous entertainers Whitney Houston, Elton John and Shakira. A staple on the Las Vegas' center strip for over 25 years, Legends in Concert is known as the pioneer of live tribute shows and has assembled the greatest collection of live tribute artists and celebrity look-alikes in show business.

"Legends in Concert has been one of the most popular and memorable shows aboard Norwegian Epic because the performers are so dynamic and authentic. We keep it fresh and exciting by changing the performers every four months," said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line's chief executive officer. "We are pleased to bring these new Legends performers to Norwegian Epic for her inaugural season in Europe."

Jazmine Hyytia, a native of Long Island, New York, portrays Whitney Houston and draws her musical inspiration from her Cuban heritage while speaking and singing in both English and Spanish. Hyytia started her musical career on the European music scene including performances in hundreds of nightclubs, several European summer festivals and multiple radio and television appearances. European success led to Hyytia's 1998 debut within the Latin-American community by singing in eight episodes of the popular Telemundo television show, "Sueños De Fama."

"The entertainers appearing on Norwegian Epic for the European summer itineraries performing as Elton John, Whitney Houston and Shakira were specifically selected because of their international appeal and diverse musical styles," said Brian Brigner, chief operating officer for "Legends" producer, On Stage Entertainment. "They are three of the highest quality tribute acts in the world, and they will be joined by the always electrifying Legends singers and dancers, and a rockin' live band."

Paying tribute to the "Rocket Man," Stephen Sorrentino embodies Elton John, the bespectacled Englishman known for a number of international musical hits, along with his outlandish attire. Born and bred in New York, Sorrentino has trained at the Metropolitan Opera and later studied comedy with The Second City in Chicago. He is fluent in all instruments, especially voice. Among his repertoire of Elton John songs are "Pinball Wizard," "Crocodile Rock," "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" and the rousing "Saturday Night."

Ines Zak, a native of Mexico, who will portray Shakira, has been a singer and an entertainer all her life. In Mexico, she performed on radio and television and as the opening act for Mexican legends such as La Prieta Linda and La Sonora Santanera, singing also in prestigious places such as the National Auditorium of Mexico and the Arena Mexico. In the United States, she was proud to perform as part of the 21st Century Platters with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and Marvin Hamlisch and as part of Andrea Bocelli's choir for his performance at MGM Arena in Las Vegas. Residing in Las Vegas since 2000, she has also performed the Mexican and American National Anthems for televised sporting events.

Legends in Concert is a live musical celebration featuring the world's greatest celebrity tribute artists. Legends in Concert on Norwegian Epic features three celebrity tribute performers taking the stage in the Epic Theater for six 45-minute shows over three days during a seven-day cruise. In addition, a Legends "Unplugged" show is performed on three additional nights in the Manhattan Room, the ship's New York-inspired supper club, providing an unprecedented dining and entertainment experience. Past tribute performers on board Norwegian Epic have included Madonna, Elvis, Tina Turner, Rod Stewart, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Aretha Franklin, Neil Diamond and Janet Jackson.

Norwegian Epic sails seven-day Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona, Spain from May 22 through October 23, 2011 calling on Florence/Pisa (Livorno); Rome (Civitavecchia); and Naples, Italy; and Palma, Majorca, Spain.

Norwegian Cruise Line will add 58 new staterooms and suites to the Norwegian Dawn when it enters dry dock in May. The 28 new suites include two categories of family suites that can sleep up to six, executives announced during a Feb. 23 conference call with travel agents and press.

There will be 14 Family Suites (category SJ) measuring 408 to 452 square feet, while 10 Family Suites with Balcony (category SD) will measure 409 to 495 square feet. The family suites will be located on a high deck, near the pool, and feature a larger bathroom and more storage space.

There will be four Deluxe Owner’s Suites (category SA) added right below the bridge. They will measure 667 to 732 square feet. Also added will be 30 inside staterooms measuring 142 to 174 square feet.

The new accommodations will take the current location of the Spinnaker Lounge and cinema, which will be upgraded and moved to a spot that executives said improve the flow of the ship.

Though the dry-dock project is in May, finishing work on the new accommodations will continue until Sept. 16. They are on sale now, however, for departures after Sept. 16.

In other news, NCL said a new built-in air purifying system was installed last week in Norwegian Epic, near the casino area, which some guests complain is too smoky. The built-in system replaces floor models.

Also, Executive Vice President Andy Stuart said the company is working to install an online system that will allow passengers to pre-book restaurant reservations. He said he expects the roll-out of the new system to start in April.

In other fleetwide additions, executives said the company now offers Welcome Back Stations near the gangways on port days with cool face towels (warm ones in Alaska), complimentary water and a place to relax.

The company also now offers a Dear Hotel Director suggestion box at the front desk for guests with complaints or comments. A sign also lists the phone extension for the hotel director’s office. The company promises feedback or a response within 24 hours.

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that it has completed the first phase of enhancements at Great Stirrup Cay, the line's 250-acre private island in the Bahamas. On Thursday, February 3, the company opened the new marina and dining facility on the island, representing a significant milestone in the more than $20 million enhancement project currently underway. Norwegian Sky's 2,000 guests were the first to experience the opening of the marina basin with four docks for the island's tenders and the new 8,500 square foot dining facility, complete with two bars and four picnic pavilions.

"Both the new marina and the dining facility greatly enhance the guest experience on Great Stirrup Cay which is our second busiest port of call this year," said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian Cruise Line's president and CEO. "By moving the tenders' arrival to the marina and away from the beach, we have now opened up a great expanse of beachfront for our guests to enjoy and relax. We've also built a new large dining facility that is similar to the action station restaurants we have on board our Freestyle Cruising ships."

The marina is approximately 12 feet deep at low water and is home to the island's four tenders. It took more than eight months to excavate the basin and the entrance channel. The dining facility includes a central pizza making station, two grills, hot and cold food stations, as well as fresh fruits and breads. There are two full bars on either side of the facility for added convenience. The four pavilions, each more than 1800 square feet, offer picnic tables with a total seating capacity for more than 500 guests.

Enhancements to Great Stirrup Cay have been underway since January of 2010 and will continue through the end of this year. Several new island activities have been added since the project began including more than 16 wave runners, kayak rentals and an eco-adventure boat tour around the island. These are in addition to the existing snorkeling; floats; inflatable hippo slide; and parasailing.

The second phase of enhancements includes an arrival/departure pavilion, additional bar facilities; several comfort stations; a band stand; cruise program activity area; private beachfront cabanas; a kid's play area; straw market; and beach volleyball courts. The beachfront will continue to be expanded on the island's west end.

Norwegian Cruise Line announced that the popular Slam Allen Band will return to Norwegian Epic as the official Fat Cats house blues band, starting January 15, 2011. Slam Allen first appeared on Norwegian Epic during the ship's inaugural launch in June, 2010 and performed on the ship through September. With Slam at the helm, the band quickly developed an incredible rapport with guests and other entertainers on board.

"Slam became an instant hit during the launch of Norwegian Epic as his soulful music combined with his playful and inviting personality really resonated with our guests," said Richard Kilman, director of entertainment programming and development for Norwegian Cruise Line. "It's a coup for us to have him return to the ship and serve as the official house band of Fat Cats."

For more than 20 years, Slam Allen, originally from New Jersey, has been entertaining audiences around the world with his unique blend of soul and blues. For the past eight years, he has played an important role, as the lead singer and guitarist, in the legendary James Cotton Band. Music is in Allen's blood -- he got his start from his father and uncles who were known as the Allen Brothers Band. On Norwegian Epic, Allen plays a wide range of songs from B.B. King and Otis Redding to his own original music in the intimate 170-seat Fat Cats lounge six nights a week.

"When I play, people who may have never heard of me leave the show feeling like we're old friends," Allen said. "Playing on Norwegian Epic is a great way to develop relationships with people since they are there for an entire week and many come back every night."

Slam Allen will be playing in Fat Cats for the next six months. When he leaves for his month vacation in July, Allen will personally select his stand-in. Watch him in action in "An Epic Moment in Entertainment: Fat Cats Jazz & Blues Club" on Norwegian's YouTube channel.

Following on the heels of 2010's successful tennis cruises, Tennis Cruise is launching another voyage, toting tennis enthusiasts to the Sony Ericsson Open, followed by a seven-day cruise to the Caribbean aboard NCL's new Norwegian Epic.

Participants will play aboard the new ship as well as luxury tennis courts in the Bahamas, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten.

Bob Lovinger, founder of Tennis Cruise, explains that his own family served as the inspiration for the tennis-inspired cruises, as he and his daughter love to watch and play the sport, while his wife and son have little interest—Tennis Cruise allows for significant "down-time," offering families or friends other activities apart from the competitie courts.

"It's certainly not a tennis boot-camp, but hopefully they will get enough to quench their tennis thirst," said Lovinger.

Based on the early returns, Tennis Cruise has reached a very broad audience both in terms of age and skill level. According to Lovinger, he has players that range in age from 16 to 85 and skill levels from beginners to advanced. The concept to this business, he adds, is that like golfers, tennis players want to play tennis whenever given the chance.

The Tennis Cruise to the Sony Ericsson Open begins on March 24 with two days at the Sony Ericsson Open followed by a seven day luxury cruise to St. Maartan, St. Thomas, and Nassau, Bahamas and will feature a soon-to-be-announced tennis legend.

Norwegian CEO first to be discovered while on the job

Norwegian Cruise Line President and CEO Kevin Sheehan has his cover blown while working on the frontlines during the company's episode of the Emmy-nominated hit reality series "Undercover Boss" airing on Sunday, January 2, 2011 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

In the Jan. 2 Norwegian Cruise Line episode, Sheehan is recognized by Silvia, a waitress in the Manhattan Room restaurant on Norwegian Epic. During his undercover journey, Sheehan also hosts the line's signature White Hot Party where he's forced to step out of his comfort zone to lead a crowd of more than 1,000 guests in a line dance. Sheehan also spent time on Pride of America in Hawaii, where he worked alongside a deck repairman, John, a fellow New Yorker, who was quite critical of Sheehan's performance.

"Going undercover gave me a much deeper appreciation for our crew and how hard they work everyday creating memorable cruise vacations for our guests," said Sheehan. "I can now better relate to our crew members. I was humbled by the experience and have an even greater respect for our crew since I've walked in their shoes."

Each week, "Undercover Boss" follows a different executive as he or she leaves the comfort of the corner office for an undercover mission to examine the inner workings of their companies. While working alongside their employees, they see the effects that their decisions have on others, where the problems lie within their organizations and get an up-close look at both the good and the bad while discovering the unsung heroes who make their companies run.

About Kevin Sheehan

Since taking the helm of Norwegian Cruise Line in 2008, Kevin Sheehan has overseen major company initiatives including vastly improving on-board service and amenities across the fleet; expanding the line's European presence; repositioning two of the line's Hawai'i-based ships creating a profitable business model; revitalizing top management with a mixture of cruise industry and outside expertise; and using his extensive 30-year background in the business world to help Norwegian post a sharp turnaround in profitability in the midst of a tough economic climate.

Sheehan comes from a diverse professional background that includes helping to found Spanish-language television network Telemundo; taking several companies public including rental car giant Avis; aiding in the inception and launch of the Sega Channel, the first interactive game platform over cable; teaching full-time at Adelphi University in New York and consulting for a variety of private equity firms, including Apollo Management, a Norwegian shareholder. Sheehan's tell-it-like-it-is persona and personal philosophy of leading by example has allowed him to reinvigorate the organization by opening lines of communication and creating a positive corporate culture.

Before joining Norwegian in 2007, Sheehan was Chairman and CEO of Cendant Corp Vehicle Services Division where he was responsible for Avis Rent A Car, Budget Rent A Car, Budget Trucks, PHH Vehicle Management, First Fleet and Wright Express.

While there, he integrated the Avis and Budget rental car brands into one network and also successfully completed a 100 percent initial public offering of Wright Express.

Prior to joining Cendant Corp, Sheehan served in leadership positions at STT Video Partners LLP and Telemundo Group, Inc. He also spent two and a half years consulting to private equity firms and lecturing full-time at Adelphi University in New York as a Distinguished Visiting Professor of Accounting, Finance, and Economics.

Sheehan, a native New Yorker and avid basketball fan, is married with two children.

Four Freestyle Cruising Vessels to Set Sail In Europe, Including Two Year-Round, in 2012/13

Norwegian Cruise Line announced its largest European deployment ever for the 2012/2013 season with four Freestyle Cruising ships, including two year-round. Norwegian Spirit will join Norwegian Jade sailing year-round in Europe beginning in April 2012. This is also the first time Norwegian Spirit will sail in Europe offering 12-day Grand Mediterranean voyages in the summer and fall, along with nine-day Canary Islands in the winter and spring. The company's largest and most innovative ship, Norwegian Epic, and Norwegian Sun will continue cruising seasonally from Barcelona and Copenhagen respectively.

These cruises go on sale to Norwegian's top travel partners and Latitudes members (past guests) today, December 15, 2010 and to the general public on Thursday, December 16.

"Europe is one of the world's fastest growing cruise markets and one where Freestyle Cruising is very well received. Given this, we felt it was the right time to deploy four ships, including two year-round, in Europe, marking our largest European deployment in the company's history," said Kevin Sheehan, Norwegian's chief executive officer. "Guests now have the flexibility of embarking from four homeports in Europe sailing to some of the most exciting destinations in the world."

The 2,018-passenger Norwegian Spirit will make her European debut with two memorable itineraries including a 12-day Grand Mediterranean cruise from Venice, Italy and Barcelona, Spain during the summer, and a nine-day Canary Islands cruise from Barcelona through the fall and winter. The 12-day Grand Mediterranean sailings run from April 28, 2012 to October 25, 2012 and begin in either Barcelona or Venice and call on Provence (Toulon), France; Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Rome (Civitavecchia) and Naples, Italy; Mykonos and Athens (Piraeus), Greece; and Istanbul and Ephesus (Izmir), Turkey. The nine-day Canary Islands cruises from Barcelona will sail from November 6, 2012 to April 8, 2013 and call on Funchal, Madeira; Santa Cruz de Tenerife; and Arrecife, Lanzarote, Canary Islands; and Granada (Málaga), Spain. Norwegian Spirit will also sail an 11-day Grand Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Venice on July 9, 2012 and a 13-day Grand Mediterranean from Venice to Barcelona on July 20, 2012.

Continuing her year-round sailings in Europe, the 2,402-passenger Norwegian Jade will sail seven unique itineraries with ports of call in Greece, Italy, Turkey, Croatia, Israel, and Egypt from her homeports of Rome (Civitavecchia) and Venice, Italy. Norwegian Jade will continue her popular alternating seven-day Greek Isles and Greece and Turkey cruises departing on Saturdays from Venice from April 28, 2012 to October 6, 2012. The Greek Isles cruises call on Corfu, Santorini, Mykonos and Olympia (Katakolon), Greece. The Greece and Turkey sailings call on Dubrovnik and Split, Croatia; Athens (Piraeus), Greece; and Ephesus (Izmir), Turkey. Since there is no port repetition between the two itineraries, they can be easily combined on most sailings to create a port-rich 14-day European tour.

Also from Venice, Norwegian Jade will sail a six-day Croatia and Greece cruise on July 14, 2012; and an eight-day Greek Isles and Turkey cruise on July 20, 2012, as well as a seven-day Adriatic and Italy cruise on October 13, 2012 with disembarkation in Rome (Civitavecchia).

From Rome, Norwegian Jade will sail alternating 11-day Mediterranean & the Holy Land cruises departing on Saturdays and 10-day Eastern Mediterranean cruises departing on Wednesdays from October 20, 2012 to April 17, 2013. The Mediterranean and the Holy Land cruises call on Alanya, Turkey; Limassol, Cyprus; Haifa and Ashdod, Israel; and Port Said and Alexandria, Egypt. The Eastern Mediterranean cruises call on Olympia (Katakolon) and Athens (Piraeus), Greece; Ephesus (Izmir), Turkey; and an overnight stay in Alexandria, Egypt.

Norwegian's newest and most innovative ship, Norwegian Epic, will return to Barcelona sailing a series of 25 seven-day Western Mediterranean cruises from April 29 to October 14, 2012. The ship will call on Naples, Rome (Civitavecchia), and Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Italy; and Nice (Villefranche) and Provence (Marseille), France. In addition, Norwegian Epic will sail one four-day Western Mediterranean cruise on April 25, 2012.

Norwegian Sun will continue sailing her nine-day Baltic Capital cruises from Copenhagen, Denmark from May 4 to September 7, 2012 calling on Berlin (Warnemünde), Germany; Tallinn, Estonia; an overnight stay in St. Petersburg, Russia; Helsinki, Finland and Stockholm, Sweden. Norwegian Sun will also sail one 14-day Norway, Iceland & Faroe Islands cruise on September 16, 2012 calling on Bergen, and Alesund, Norway; Lerwick, Shetland Islands; Thorshavn, Faroe Islands; Reykjavik, Iceland; Glasgow (Greenock), Scotland and Dublin, Ireland.

In addition, there are five opportunities for guests to have an experience of a lifetime crossing the Atlantic with Norwegian's Transatlantic cruises. Norwegian Epic offers two options: an 11-day Transatlantic from Miami to Barcelona on April 14, 2012 and a 13-day Transatlantic from Barcelona to Miami on October 21, 2012. Norwegian Spirit offers a 13-day Transatlantic from New Orleans to Barcelona on April 15, 2012. Norwegian Sun crosses the Atlantic on April 21, 2012 from Orlando (Port Canaveral) to Copenhagen and back to Miami from Copenhagen on September 30, 2012.

Miami - Nov 23, 2010 ---

Norwegian Cruise Line and CBS jointly announced today that Norwegian's CEO Kevin Sheehan will appear on an upcoming episode of the Emmy-nominated hit reality series "Undercover Boss" on the CBS Television Network.

"With 11 Freestyle Cruising ships in our fleet and more than 16,000 employees both shipboard and shoreside, it's challenging to keep in tune with our crew who are the face of the company and interacting with guests on a daily basis," said Sheehan. "When I joined the company, one of my goals was to ensure consistency across our fleet and make sure that we are delivering exceptional cruise vacations for our guests. Participating in Undercover Boss' helped me to see that we have phenomenal crew members who are working extremely hard to deliver on that promise, but it also shed some light on areas that could be improved."

During the episode, Sheehan went undercover on two of the company's Freestyle Cruising ships: Norwegian Epic, the company's newest, largest and most innovative vessel; and Pride of America, the only US-flagged passenger cruise ship sailing inter-island cruises in Hawaii. While on board, Sheehan worked alongside crew members in various departments.

"It definitely was an eye-opening experience," added Sheehan. "I've always had the utmost admiration for our crew, but after this experience, I can proudly say we have truly remarkable crew members throughout our fleet."
