  • Regent orders another luxury cruise ship

Regent Seven Seas Cruises has announced an order with Italy’s Fincantieri S.p.A. to build another luxury cruise ship. With delivery scheduled in late 2023, the new vessel will be a sister ship to the line's newest ships, the Seven Seas Explorer and the Seven Seas Splendor.

Accommodating up to 750 guests, the new ship will be Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ sixth-all-suite vessel. Details about the new ship's itineraries, suites, restaurants, amenities and onboard experiences will be announced leading up to its 2023 debut. Voyages for the ship’s inaugural season will open for bookings in 2021.

The contract price for the vessel is approximately €475 million ($544 million). Regent says that it has obtained export credit financing to fund 80 percent of the contract price of the ship, subject to certain Italian government approvals.

Fincantieri is currently building Seven Seas Splendor at its Ancona, Italy shipyard, with that ship slated to debut in 2020. Over the past year Regent has also completed a $125 million fleet renovation project designed to bring its ships in line with Regent's Explorer-class vessels. As part of this project, the Seven Seas Mariner received updates to its suites, restaurants and public spaces, including new dining venue Chartreuse, brought over from the Explorer.

The luxury cruise line has also opened bookings for its 2020 - 2021 season, with 167 itineraries and new ports, as well as introduced new cruises to Cuba, new Go Local Tours and new Regent Choice small group excursions.
