  1. Explorer of the Seas - May 19, 2006. We have nearly a whole year to wait til we sail on the Explorer but that will give me plenty of time of research the ports and learn all about the Explorer. :cheesy: :cheesy:
  2. Joey - I am absolutely the worst person to ask a question about distance...I have no concept of mileage. With that said the pier to the parking lot is quite long. It will take you maybe 5 minutes walking at a fairly slow pace. Once you get to the end of the pier there is a parking lot and then a few stores. At the end of that block is Margarittaville and the Island Village. No more than a 10 minute slow walk. You can see a couple of beaches from the ship but I don't know if they are public beaches. Sorry I can't be more help. Enjoy your trip.
  3. Thanks for your kind wishes.  I will report on the Voyager when we return but since we are doing our first B2B we will not be back til May 29th. Hopefully I will have time to become more active on this board once the cruise is over and things quiet down.
  4. Jason - being "electronically challenged" I don't know how to post a photo but on the Voyager - and many other RC ships - there is a section of the carpet that lifts out and can be replaced daily with a new section, with the day of the week written out on it. It sure helps after a few days at sea when you can't remember what day it is. LOL
  5. Sorry - I have a photo of Saturday but no Friday. Glad you enjoyed the Voyager. Isn't it a wonderful ship. We will be sailing on it again in May and we are counting down the days
  6. We will be on the Voyager of the Seas in May 05. Booking for the summer sailings from the NY/NJ area did not open until July 9, 2004. I just checked my files. While some of the cruises from Florida had their sailing out earlier for some reason the cruises from the Northeast seem to be the last posted.
  7. Howard - I'll be sure to post a review when we return. Enjoy your cruise on the Explorer.
  8. Just 4 months left til we sail on the Voyager to Bermuda. Is anyone else going with us?
  9. I know last year Celebrity had a couple of adult only cruises. You may want to check with them also. There were only a few though so it may not fit into your schedule.
  10. We always bring return address labels to give to all the new friends we meet. Also - be sure to label your cameras with them. Our camera with all our cruise pictures was returned by the Guest Relations desk before we even realized it was missing. Don't pack all of your clothes in one bag and his in another. Divide the clothes up so you will both have clothes if something should happen to your bags.
  11. We will be doing our first back to back cruise on the Voyager in May of 2005. First we will do 5 days to Bermuda then stay on-board for 9 day Caribbean, going to Labadee, Ocho Rios, Cayman Islands and Freeport. Can't wait - 14 days of total relaxation and pampering. :cheesy:
  12. Firsst cruise was on the Home Lines Homeric in 1964 to Nassau. It took me until 1977 to drag DH on the Cunard Princess to Bermuda and then until 1986 for us to cruise again. Since then, it has been at least once a year and two if we can manage it. Already booked for back to back on Voyager of the Seas for next May - 5 day Bermuda and 9 day Caribbean. :cheesy:
  13. We just returned from the Voyager of the Seas and had a grand time despite major problems sailing from Bayonne. They are just not ready for a ship this size. We sailed 3 hours late and on arrival back sat from 10:30 til 3PM when the first color tag was called. Some people did not get off the ship til 6PM that day. I will post a review in a day or two after I get unpacked and get some laundry done. If you are sailing from Bayonne - bring lots and lots or patience along with you. You will need it but once on-board it will be worth it. The ship is great, food very good and service wonderful.
  14. Thank you for your Bon Voyage wishes. We are really looking forward to sailing from the new terminal in NJ and will report back when we return. Hopefully when our cruise is over things will quiet down and I can come back to being active on this board.
  15. That is the funniest poem I have read in a long time. I am making a copy to give to both my daughter and daughter-in-law. I guess it falls under the category of "revenge is sweet". Thanks for sharing and starting my day off with a huge laugh.
  16. Thinking back over some of our cruises was fun. A good way to spend a cold windy April day in New York. Sailings from Boston: Bar Harbor, Maine (2X) Portland, Maine (2X) Halifax, Nova Scotia (2X) Saint John, NB (2x) Quebec City (2X) Saguanay River (2X) - the highlight of these trips Sailings from Baltimore: Charleston, South Carolina Key West, Florida St. Thomas St. Maarten Cozumel Belize City Nassau (2X) CoCoCay San Juan, Puerto Rico Sailing from New York Nassau Bermuda (15x) - Our favorite cruise port - looking to book #16 before the week is out. Upcoming: Sailing from Bayonne, NJ (May 21) Labadee (doubtful) Ocho Rios, Jamaica Georgetown, Cayman Islands Grand Bahama Islands
  17. I have just finished making our packing list for our May 21, Voyager cruise. Only 87 more days and so much to do! LOL. Already looking into a September Bermuda cruise but need to leave enough time in between cruises to find a house in Pa. and move from NY. I thought it would be nice if DH and I could go on a cruise and our children (now grown and married) could move us while we are away and have everything all settled by the time we got back. Unfortunately DS & DD do not think this is a good idea.

  19. I'm with Keith & Rita on this one. Since we have cruised from New York to Bermuda at least 15 times, and this was always played when we left New York, it puts me in a cruise mood immediately. Of course DH doesn't think it is necessary to play it over and over on the drive to the pier but he gets over it pretty quickly once he sees the ship. LOL
  20. This seems like great news. Being from Staten Island I will have a 10 minute drive from my front door to the Voyager on 5/21/04. Not having to fight Manhattan traffic and all the other ships in port at the same time will be a real bonus. We are just waiting to hear about parking facilities, etc. For cruisers flying into the area Newark airport is one turnpike exit from the ship.

  23. We have been on more than 20 but less than 25 so far. We are in the process of cleaning out our attic and the count continues to grow as we find things from cruises we had forgotten about.
  24. Since I am an early riser my favorite time is sunrise on our balcony with a hot cup of tea just waiting for the ship to come alive. The sound of the ship cutting through the water is so beautiful. It even seems to drown out DH snoring away inside. LOL
  25. We really love Bermuda and have cruises there more than a dozen times. A very close second is St. Thomas.
