  1. If you can swim, you can snorkel! You miss so much if you only see what is above the water. Do Not hesitate to try it. You will become addicted. I like to snorkel in the Pacific islands more than the Atlantic islands, but almost anywhere is okay with me. It's easy. The fish are more scared of you than you are of them! Love, Elena
  2. The fall color cruises are great, and I sooooo enjoyed our cruise this summer to the Baltics, and the time spent in St. Petersburg and the side trip to Moscow! Love, Elena PS: Taking a cruise to Alaska next summer, can hardly wait. Did you go to Denali?
  3. I take a little cash, a credit card, a few travelers checks, and make a substantial bank deposit before I leave and use ATMs. They are very handy! Love, Elena
  4. Well, I live here on the west coast, and would gladly fly east any day for the Islands that way, don't know that I'd do the reverse. I think the water around the Bahamas, etc. is prettier. Now I would do the flight from the east coast for a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands any day! JMHO. Love, Elena
  5. Thanks, Cori, you've given me some perspective, as have all the other replies. As for putting my daughter to work: she likes me to wait on her! Don't know how this happened--I'm much older than she is! I'll give it a try. One good thing is that my grandson is now old enough to drive us to the airport. I did do some things towards getting ready today--but it seems like a mountain to climb! All in all, a pleasant mountain, though, and some people climb mountains just because they are there! Love, Elena
  6. [Oh dear, the cruise docs arrived today. I realize it is less than two weeks before we leave for London and then Dover to catch the Crystal Symphony. To add insult to injury, my daughter called to say that she is coming with two of my grandchildren to stay until after we leave! It seemed like this cruise was sooo far away and nothing to think about and now it is here! Panic!!!! What do you all do???? Love, Elena

  8. Last time we cruised was in the fall on Radisson Seven Seas Navigator. They served some lovely escargots, had lobster twice on the ship (as well as in port in Maine), yum, it was really great. But what I really loved was the mango. They had some really good mango on the ship, but I think they ran out because I kept ordering for breakfast and for dessert after dinner! Love, Elena PS: The mango wasn't on the menu, I just asked for is. Is the same true for caviar?
  9. My husband and I went out and bought him a tux this week, because Crystal doesn't rent them, and we found out it would probably cost more to rent one for the amount of time we are going to be away from home, plus the quality is better. It is a lovely Italian model in a very nice wool. Do you feel this is a good excuse to book another cruise while on the cruise we bought the tux for? Don't we have to get our money's worth out of the tux? Love, Elena
  10. Anytime! Just talk me into it! Not hard! Love, Elena
  11. Forgot to add: I just love this topic, and have gotten lots of inspiration for future cruises. Have been thinking about Bermuda and South America this fall, and you have encouraged me lots. Thank you! Love, Elena
  12. We have loved every port and every ship and every cruise. But our most recent cruise was this fall, along the St. Lawrence River and then the Atlantic coast of New England. Bar Harbor, Maine took my breath away. The leaves were soooo red, the air was sooo crisp, and the lobster was to die for........ Love, Elena
  13. We are 32 days from leaving for England to start our cruise from Dover, and I am going nuts waiting. Any suggestions? Love, Elena
  14. What could be more uncomfortable than a thong? Ever tried one? When I was a sweet young thing, thong underpanties came out and were touted for making your bum look better under clothes. So I bought a pair. I wore them once. Maybe a few hours. Then I threw them in the trash can. Love, Elena
  15. A million or so years ago, we took a cruise to Jamaica, (Norwegian Caribbean Line, I think) and we hired drivers in cabs or jeeps or whatever wherever we went. Even had a driver drive a group from Kingston to Dunn's River Falls, a definite must see in the Ocho Rios area. It was soooo much less expensive than the expeditions offered by the ship. But silly us.....we didn't even know the ship offered expeditions then! You just have to be sure to get back in time if you go on your own! Love, Elena
