  10. Tipping is a personnal thing which is why I do not care for the "automatic" tipping. My wife and I have always enjoyed putting the envelopes together with a thank you card and handing it to the person with a warm handshake and sincere "Thank you" at the end of the cruise. I even give $5 to the Bell Ringer who hands out the little mints as we leave the dining room. Of course he has to stand there and have his picture taken with me to earn it. We also provide an "up front" tip room steward and waiters and let them know we appreciate what they will be doing for us during the cruise. This is in addition to the gratuity given at the end of the cruise. While the vast majority of the ships staff provide excellent service my wife and I can sometimes expect "a little more". The additional tip eases my mind. The $10 pp a day represents less than 5% of the cruise so an extra $30-$40 for the week is small in the bigger scheme of things. I put more than that into the slot machines everyday. LOL
  11. In my HO it really doesn't matter, Eastern or Western. Take one then take the other. We cruised Eastern twice last year and Western once. We like sea days and don't do alot of island excursions so we look for 3-4 sea days and 3 port days.
  12. We were on the Carnival Legend 28 September. The weather was drizzle, damp and overcast. The sailing was a little rough the first night out but nothing to really wory about. We had packed some warmer clothes thinking it would be cold until we got to Florida. Not the case. The next morning I was in shorts sitting by the pool. The nice thing about it beside the not flying (we took a train from Boston) was the sea days which we like. Also got to see the Statue of Liberty and the New York skyline. On the return trip the weather was beautiful. We love this not flying, my wife because she hates to fly and me because I save on 1st class flight, so we have booked a RCCL cruise out of Boston next September to Bermuda and Easten Caribbean.
  13. In addition to the birth certificate you need a picture I.D. Passport accomplishes both requirements. We always take our BC's with us and keep them in the safe in our stateroom...just in case.
