So I saw something this morning on the news. It featured a chef in a Chi downtown restaurant advising how to tenderize tougher cuts of meat like skirt steak. He said use a salt/citrus marinade for at least 12 hrs. or better 24, like soy and lime juice. I also read about and have used successfully rubbing baking soda in meat, about 1 tsp. per lb. for 1 hr. and then rinsing it off and I know thats worked well before so I did both. The proof will be tomorrow off the grill. :-)

Larry, I've been using Italian Dressing for years to marinade steak. Works great and has a nice flavor. Just remember to use regular dressing and NOT the "lite" dressing because lite has a water base and won't adhere to the meat. The regular is an oil base but allows the spices in the dressing to stick to the meat and seep in slowly. Just remember to baste with a brush occasionally during cooking.

In Istanbul now. It's like at least 15 degrees cooler than last yr. at this same time. So far all is well. This is THE best ship we have been on. Gonna watch the head chef cook and then he let's us try. Later this week. C ya!

In limbo now. Hurricane Sandy has caused our flight home tomorrow to be cancelled. How long we will be in Madrid who knows? On permanent hold with UAL.

Sometimes I dont understand why somethings said with utter simplicity can be so misunderstood. Booked a hotel thru hotels.com which included R/T transport from/to airport. Contacted the hotel and they said to contact the booking agent as this was not a direct booking with them. OK so I did. Then its the old "its not our business to do this, call the hotel." So I say I did and yada, yada yada. So after speaking to 4 people inc. two supervisors and I still dont know if if they get. its easy....

Confirmation for Y I am changing dentists. The old one was supposed to send out my X rays to the new one. So I am in the office now and no X rays. We called and was told they were sent to ME one week ago but of course I never got them and the originals were sent to my insurance. Co. For evaluation and they discard them once that's done. My old dentist has nothing, not even a copy. She's a good dentist but man on man the office is run by Moe, Larry and Curly.

I'm just wondering Larry, were they hardcopy (film) type X-Rays or Digital (copied to a disk when taken)? About three years ago I was an X-Ray repair tech that's the same time most doctors, dentists and even veterinarians were switching over to digital X-Rays. It was easier for the patient because all they had to do was carry a copy of the disk as opposed to the giant (or in your case with dental X-Rays, NOT so giant) films. If they were digital, she should have a copy on her computer...

Had dinner out at Cafe Iberico with Shruts and Anamay. Had a great time! The food was Spanish tapas and it was quite good. It was supposed to be a bunch of people from work but just us 3 came. Well y'all missed it. It was pretty good.

Left my CC at cafe Iberico last night. No biggie but when I called today the gal there despite multiple explanations could not figure out the difference between my name and the cc name. Hey, who is named Chase Sapphire?? Finally had to talk to someone else who said her name was Edith but really it was Iris because when she says Iris people hear Edith so she calls herself Edith. Huh?? No wonder my order for a dark beer came as a lager.

Going outside he box a little today. Doing a tandoori marinade for salmon. I think it should be good. Then found a recipe for making hummus but with cannellini beans instead of chick peas.

So I see that a woman is suing a cop who tasered her after she got a ticket for being illegally parked at Walgreens in a handicapped spot. She ripped the ticket up. Well to do that you have to be nuts anyway so I am sure she went a lot further than that. What is she thinking??

A granny get verbally abused by rotten kids on a bus who should be made to clean toilets with toothbrushes for the next three yrs. and she ends up with 500K + in her pocket. What a country!! I luv it.

Busy day. Played golf, watered the plants, drove to work and back for a meeting. Now chillin, feeling the breeze from the ceiling fan, watching the Cubs and sipping Glenfiddich. It's all good.
