  2. Watching "Donnie Brasco" and enjoying a nice Cabernet Sauvignon. ?

  3. Saw a feature on the local ABC news station about an big increase in the skunk population in the burbs. Tell me about it. Buggers got under our deck. The pest control company we used which was actually featured on the news show trapped 10, yes 10 of them! $65.00 each.

  4. Kentucky-ND tied at half. Upset in the making. We'll see.

  5. Snow again. Where oh where is spring???

  6. Went to the new Trader Joes by Woodfiled and got the scallion cakes. Heated them to crispy in the oven. Man very good. Gotta get more!

  7. So recently I had to pay $746.00 for a new thermostat for our MB 350 with only 74k miles. I received a survey and asked for someone to call me. Got a call today with the usual blah blah out of warranty stuff but got another call from someone up the ladder who agreed to give me a $200.00 service credit. I told them I had a Corolla that never had this problem, really lots of other cars driven longer w/o such a problem. Last summer a problem with our Acuras AC occurred. While I was waiting for...

  8. Traffic is a mess and there are accidents out there and I just saw a four car wreck so please be careful

  9. I have been seeing a pt. for a few visits now. My first impression is that at best his manners are coarse and crude. Thats ok. He is s/p CABG, two valve operations, an ablation and is in CHF with a know it all attitude and he has three pressure ulcers, one a stage 4. He has 4+ LE edema and recently gained 5 lbs. in a day 2/2 diet non-compliance. How else?? This was going to be a teaching nightmare and I would be going there for probably three mos. So I brought a wound care consultant the...

  10. Where or where is the Hawks offense??

  11. I had time to kill between pts. today and was in a Mexican neighborhood in Melrose PK. so let's find a little place for some authentic food. Well the sauces were muy picante to my liking but man the chicken was extremely over cooked, the toughest Inhave ever had. I doubt it was fresh and all I can say is better to have over cooked vs. under cooked chicken. ?. Next time no mas!

  12. At a new car workshop now at the Acura dealer with dinner. Buying a car ain't what it used to be?

  13. I think sometimes we forget that there are good people out there, really most of us I think doing good things. It seems mostly what we read or hear about are bad things being done so here is a feel good story about a community helping out a first grader and his family.http://abc30.com/society/good-news-community-donates-car-so-shunned-boy-wont-be-late-anymore/548276/

  14. First time I have ever seen wild turkeys. This was in Wheaton.

  15. http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/03/intl_world/paul-allen-japanese-battleship-musashi/

For WW II history buffs. This was one of the two largest battleships ever built, 25k tons more than the U.S. Iowa class ships. However both her and the sister ship Yamato were sunk at sea by an attack of hundreds of US torpedo and dive bombers. They simply had no defense against attacks like this from the air.

  16. Ok so time to lament and vent a little. I saw a pt. today who is basically chair bound s/p 2 CVA's. He came home from rehab 2 days ago and his wife is now his sole care giver. She said her son won't help, she has little money for his like 15 meds, she was poorly taught to give SQ's like his insulin and heparin and it seems like she can't afford to keep up with his meds. He was basically independent until December and now boom it's all on her. And she works too, by necessity. I can do some th...

  17. Jihadi John has been ID's. Boy your days are numbered. The SAS will get you.

  18. Grilled some UDSA choice ribs eyes marinated overnight in soy, OJ, lemon juice, jalapeƱos, Thai chilis and garlic. Certainly not UDSA prime but not bad!

  19. Just call them the Cincinnati Bungles. :D

  20. Had a nice lunch today at Sayat Nova, an Armenian place just off Mich. Ave downtown. Jay and Albrey joined us and I've heard of this place as its been there for like 30 yrs. the food was pretty good and I really liked the Armenian coffee which is thick like Turkish but flavored with cardamom I think so its sort of sweet. Very nice touch. The Armenian style grape leaves are wonderful as is the spicy lamb and the mixed kebabs. Check it out!

  21. So I learned a little something about wine ratings. Ever been to say Binnys and noticed those 3x5 cards next to some bottles giving a rating, usually for Wine Spectator ? So why is it that $15.00 bottle and a $50.00 bottle both have a rating of say 90? I asked one of the wine guys there who said that these ratings are fro wines in their respective category. So for example a Honda Civic can get a 90 rating say for the economy category but that does not mean it compares to the 90 rating for...

  22. Watching "Life below zero" on Nat. Geo. Such an interesting show and I'm sipping Jeffersons Bourbon. Hey let them rough it. :D.

  23. Gee I hope it rains. Been in the kitchen all day cutting up and cooking like 10 lbs. of tomatoes from our yard for a marinara sauce and then cleaning like crazy. I still have to water the yard and man it would be nice if it rained. It's real dark now but no rain yet. Feel like chillin.

  24. So I saw something this morning on the news. It featured a chef in a Chi downtown restaurant advising how to tenderize tougher cuts of meat like skirt steak. He said use a salt/citrus marinade for at least 12 hrs. or better 24, like soy and lime juice. I also read about and have used successfully rubbing baking soda in meat, about 1 tsp. per lb. for 1 hr. and then rinsing it off and I know thats worked well before so I did both. The proof will be tomorrow off the grill. :-)

      Sarge6870

Larry, I've been using Italian Dressing for years to marinade steak. Works great and has a nice flavor. Just remember to use regular dressing and NOT the "lite" dressing because lite has a water base and won't adhere to the meat. The regular is an oil base but allows the spices in the dressing to stick to the meat and seep in slowly. Just remember to baste with a brush occasionally during cooking.

Best bush/safari hat in the world, guaranteed for life and official hat of the Aussie army. Got one myself and U can always spot them. Had mine 6 yrs. and after dry cleaning its ad good as new. If U want a great hat get a Tilley.
