Hi Cyber CruiseCrazie Friends, We have eagerly been waiting for the St.Thomas shore excursion "Screamin Eagle" shore excursion through Atlantis Adventures to appear on our shore excursion list. It is on the master (Carnival) list but not offered online to book. It looks like a fun time for a family especially if you have “teensâ€Â. It is a one hour tour, allowing for plenty of shopping and beach time later. I contacted them directly and Andy in marketing offered to open up a time slot for us on Monday July 11th, Here is what Andy typed: The tour actually starts at 10:10. Therefore, you should plan on checking into our retail store in Havensight Mall no later than 9:45 (this is across from where ship docks and less than a 5 min. walk). Carnival is not currently selling this tour. Since he was so kind to accommodate me creating a tour, (my son so badly wanted to do this) I am trying to “recruit†people to join us Monday. You can contact Andy directly, tell them you saw post from Suzy –Buffetfan on CruiseCrazies. He’ll be happy to set up a confirmed spot. He needs 10 more people, and capacity of 23. He takes a credit card, but does not bill until that day when you check in. I am posting Andy’s email to contact him directly, and link so you can read about tour. :cool: Ok If I did not miss these items on Packing list here are some ideas I have collected: - Insulated / Thermal mug & top: Good for fountain drinks, coffee, just ice etc. - Sunscreen and a Sunblock -yes there is a difference - Clothes pins- help to hang stuff in bathroom, keep towels or shirt from blowing away outside on a chair - sunglass leash- good for active tours (waverunner etc.) - perhaps an eyeglass kit for repairs or tightening - laundry soap in small ziplocs or tablets, and dryer sheets if you want to do laundry, plus change to put in machines. For kids/ teens: - pool goggles as it is salt water in pool and ocean, and eye drops - a nerf type football (as it is often too windy for a frisbee) - kite for a beach, or especially if you sail from San Juan - at the Fort. (No you likely CANNOT use a kite on board ship) -ping pong paddle/balls - not sure how good ship stuff is--if you buy cheap ones just donate them before you leave. Room item: -Besides hand sanitizer I like the Clorox disinfect wipes and wipe things down before I unpack (I work in dental office, so totally aware of germs--hey being cautious cannot hurt.) -I also like to request an extra sheet to throw over couch if anyone sleeps on it--that furniture is really hard to clean even items like a sand flea,bug etc. -sticy tack if posting a sign on cabin door, or a dry erase board - not sure if allowed, I plan on a sign to put on balcony to "see from dock" to say hey there's our room (like a flamingo, sponge bob etc.) -last item --very extremely original --line suitcase with bubble wrap (comes inhandy for bringing delicates onboard like wine etc.) on way back can wrap souveniers, hey it is lt weight and easy to pack! This one fits CruiseCrazies: An engineer finally splurged on a luxury cruise to the Caribbean. It was the "craziest" thing he had ever done in his life. Just as he was beginning to enjoy himself, a hurricane roared upon the huge ship, capsizing it like a child's toy. Somehow the engineer, desperately hanging on to a life preserver, managed to wash ashore on a secluded island. Aside from beautiful scenery, a spring-fed pool, bananas and coconuts, there was little else. He lost all hope and for hours on end, sat under the same palm tree. One day, after several months had passed, a gorgeous woman in a small rowboat appeared. "I'm from the other side of the island," she said. "Were you on the cruise ship, too?" "Yes, I was," he answered. "But, where did you get that rowboat?" "Well, I whittled the oars from gum tree branches, wove the reinforced gunnel from palm branches, and made the keel and stern from a Eucalyptus tree." "But, what did you use for tools?" asked the engineer. "There was a very unusual strata of alluvial rock exposed on the south side of the island. I discovered that if I fired it to a certain temperature in my kiln, it melted into forgeable ductile iron. Anyhow, that's how I got the tools. But, enough of that," she said. "Where have you been living all this time? I don't see any shelter." "To be honest, I've just been sleeping on the beach," the engineer said. "Would you like to come to my place?" the woman asked. The engineer nodded dumbly. She expertly rowed them around to her side of the island, and tied up the boat with a handsome strand of hand-woven hemp topped with a neat back splice. They walked up a winding stone walk she had laid around a Palm tree. There stood an exquisite bungalow, painted in blue and white. "It's not much, but I call it home." Inside, she said, "Sit down, please; would you like to have a drink?" "No, thanks," said the engineer. "One more coconut juice and I'll throw up!" "It won't be coconut juice," the woman replied. "I have a crude still out back, so we can have authentic Pina Coladas." Trying to hide his amazement, the man accepted the drink, and they sat down on her couch to talk. After they had exchanged stories, the woman asked, "Tell me, have you always had a beard?" "No," the engineer replied, "I was clean shaven all of my life until I ended up on this island." "Well if you'd like to shave, there's a razor upstairs in the bathroom cabinet." The man, no longer questioning anything, went upstairs to the bathroom and shaved with an intricate bone-and-shell device honed razor sharp. Next he showered, not even attempting to fathom a guess as to how she managed to get warm water into the bathroom, and went back downstairs. He couldn't help but admire the masterfully carved banister as he walked. "You look great," said the woman. "I think I'll go up and slip into something more comfortable." As she did, the engineer continued to sip his Pina Colada. After a short time, the woman, smelling faintly of gardenias, returned wearing a revealing gown ashioned out of pounded palm fronds. "Tell me," she asked, "we've both been out here for a very long time with no companionship. You know what I mean. Haven't you been lonely, too...isn't here something that you really, really miss? Something that all men and woman need? Something that would be really nice to have right now! "Yes, there is!" the man replied, shucking off his shyness. "There is something I've wanted to do for so long. But on this island all alone, it was just...well, it was impossible." "Well, it's not impossible, any more," the woman said. I read on Carnival Website that no alchol will be served under 21 and anyone not looking obvious will be carded. Although you are free to gamble in casino at 18! Found this policy statement during web search: Consumption of Alcohol As you may be aware, the drinking age at sea is different than at land. Each cruise line also has it's own legal drinking age. You must be 18 years of age or older to consume alcohol on: First European Cruises, Oceania Cruises, and Radisson Seven Seas Cruises. You must be 21 years of age or older to consume alcohol on: Carnival, Clipper, Costa, Cruise West, Crystal, Cunard, Delta Queen, Disney, Holland America, MSC Italian Cruises, Norwegian, Orient, Peter Deilmann, Princess, Seabourn, SeaDream, Silversea, Star Clippers, Uniworld, Viking River Cruises, Windjammer and Windstar. You must be over 18 to consume beer and wine, and at least 21 for every other type of alcoholic drink on: Celebrity, Royal Caribbean

RE: Carnival Online Shore Booking: It also takes into effect for cruises after Feb (the 12th) I believe.

Please note in case anyone is frustrated--the website has seemed to be having volume related issues and has its time of "being down". There is also discussion one only needs to have a deposit down, not ful cruise. Haven't personally had success with website, while others I've read posts from have, and many not fully deposited. So keep trying.

Carnival offers free juice in the morning,cofee and later lemonade & ice tea throughout the day. Water for these products is treated so very safe to drink. These are offered as self serve fountains --a hint: Bring and insulated-covered mug to make it easier.

Despite being in Barbados, do you think boat is flying a Bermuda flag on its tail?

One can definitely feel for the family especially during the holiday season. My question is from my mother who will be taking her first cruise next July: How easy is it really to fall over board? She has visions of just flipping over a railing or down a stairs into the ocean. I assured her it was mostly doing riskier things like a jogging track area at night, or dark stairs. Can anyone help reassure other cruisers regarding the safety? Thanks

First of all, you didn't mention what cruiselines your cabin is on. While I have not sailed that many, the only connecting rooms I have really seen are a few at the family end (near kids program location). Not too many like in hotels. I would think it odd the ship would be set up that way, rather rooms that are just side by side in the hall. Now for a laugh...my parents whom have never cruised before innocently asked--just put us across from eachother so we can have different scenery from each room...ummm ok but there is a bit what they call "a ship" space in the middle LOL! As far as photo ideas it can be endless...from a person asleep with a book on their face, a thong sunbathing, a t-shirt advertizing a cruise line (and not the cruise line you are sailing..that's almost a dare.) How about sports teams..a person wearing a certain team say from where you live?, a dolphin in the ocean, flying fish, etc. The list can go on and on.
