zebra got a reaction from Shari2 in 4 More Unusual Cruise Ship Amenities
Been on the royal Princess twice and walked the "Seawalk" many times .... it's cool to see the ocean below your feet. I've also been to the Chena Hot Springs Ice Palace in Alaska twice and that is also a cool (pun intended) experience. Loved watching them chisel ice into martini glasses and then sitting on ice bar stools and drinking the Vodka martini's. Fun!!! So that Ice Bar on Norwegian should be a great draw card.

Wow Larry that is so interesting - love the more obscure places on earth.
A highlight for me was the island of Praslin on the Seychelles. We spent 2 weeks there, absolutely out of this world. The home of the Coco de Mer (a double coconut that looks like a womens pelvis) which grows in the Vallee de Mai. Fascinating!!! The Seychelles archipelago (in the Indian Ocean) are off the charts beautiful. We flew into Victoria on the island of Mahe and then took a diesel belching schooner, (transporting pigs, goats and someones double bed) over to the remote island of Praslin. Magic.

zebra got a reaction from Jan115 in Cruise lines are trying to win over millennials. Any guesses how?
I personally feel it's a shame that ALL cruise lines want to change so radically..... all these "theme park" features cost a lot of money ..... yes you guessed it ..... higher cost to cruise!!!

zebra reacted to jacketwatch in New Cruise Review: 10 days out of Sydney to NZ
I’m glad you found your happy place.
I was born and raised in Chicago and we moved to the burbs in 1979 and tried to make a good choice inre to schools, living conditions and so on. A few mos. ago our suburb was rated the best overall in Illinois which pleasantly surprised me. Some of that is due to relatively lower real estate taxes as we have a lot of businesses and one of the biggest malls in the country. Of course we have winters too. ?.
Overall we are happy and I’m happy to be an American too.

zebra got a reaction from Jason in Have you cruised MSC?
We have cruised most main line cruise lines, except NCL and MSC. I wondered what others thought about their MSC cruise. Would you recommend it and if so, why?

Hi All,
Oh yes Jan I too sure do wish that more people would become active on this forum. Jason does an outstanding job, but we have lost so many of the "older" posters. Over the last 12 years I have personally met and cruised with so many wonderful people on Cruise Crazies and sooooooo wish for those "glory days" again!!! Let's hope ........

zebra got a reaction from Jason in Which is your favorite ship and why?
ExpatCruise I agree with you on the size of the ship and we also love the size of Princess ships. Even though we have cruised most and love Royal Caribbean and really like their mid size ships our favorite ships are still Princess ships. Oh so many awesome ships and so little time .... right???

Hey Nancy, I know exactly what you're saying about the bug biting you. i was bitten after my first cruise and the rest is history. Never been on a bad cruise, just some have been better then others. We have tried many of the cruise lines but not NCL yet. Looking forward to chatting with you on the boards.

Yes Jan been to Ravello three times! Absolutely love it. There is a small "mom & pop" restaurant (not advertised) up on the top of the mountain (lots of steps) that is out of this world. they keep bringing another course and another course ..... the food is out of this world ... finishing the meal with the obligatory Limoncello - stunning view and food!!!

zebra reacted to Shari2 in Hearty Hamburger Noodle Casserole by Shari2- favorite hot dish
Thanks Jackie, and Jason...Jackie it is good, and easy to make...good one to bring to a pot luck. I really should copy this over. When this great recipe forum was first put in, a friend copied these in from a different forum here for me, and some of the recipes didn't copy right. I couldn't change them at the time since it wasn't put in by me. I did redo some of them under my name but didn't get to all...I should try and put it in again so it's easier to understand, and looks better.

Yes isn't Florence wonderful!!! I was absolutely blown away with the statue of David .... so moving, the tears rolled down my face looking at this masterpiece marble sculpture by Michelangelo. So realistic, bulging veins, muscle groups OMG what a brilliant artist he was..... Did you check out the stores on Ponte Vecchio - I bought a gorgeous leather bag there.
