Thanks Chuck for starting this.
We call our group the Punas. From my conversation with Chuck earlier today, I can tell we're very similar to the Troublemakers. But I will give a brief definition.
PUNA: From the ancient Aztec and Mayan...inherited from the Asian migration to the Americas before the last ice age. Any strong spirit/alcohol derived from grain or fruit. Modern version: a PUNA is any alcoholic drink made from grain or fruit and usually mixed with other sugar based substances. Most often associated with the South Pacific and Hawaii...any alcoholic drink mixed with fruit juices. Central American version: any rum based drink or fruit based alcoholic beverage including liquors. According to the ancient definition a PUNA can be mixed drink, beer or wine. It has always amazed me how the ancient civilizations could embrace so much diversity when considering such a serious subject!!! Ancient Polynesian folklore tells the story of the inhabitants of Easter Island and how they would have PUNA parties on a weekly basis (4 times between full moons) and how they continued to increase the strength of their PUNAS...hence the statues of large heads made of stone. Legend has it that the inhabitants increased the PUNA strength until they exploded into outer space and, to this day, some of them can be seen as shooting stars. LOL!!! So here is to "PUNA POWER"!!!...and don't forget our official greeting...PUNA PUNA!!!
We do cabin crawls, drink Punas, slot pulls, drink Punas, eat together, drink Punas. I think you can get the picture. Several of us have cruised together before and we're all close even when not cruising.
So anyone else who is booked on this cruise and would like more information just post and we'll get back to you. We do have this roll call going on another board also but I have the time to keep up with both.
Puna Puna,
Rick...KIT
