  1. You got it in one! That's the Carnival Ecstasy, out of Galveston, November of 2008. We had won a free trip. Loved the cruise, although the ship is a bit dated.

  2. A quick check of the Vagabond Inn's website shows a basic room, with continental breakfast and shuttle to the pier, at $85 for one night. Also, the "Park & Sail" (one night + one week's parking and shuttle service) is $119 regular price, $107.10 with AAA, Senior, or military/govt pricing. My TA is currently checking with his contacts for other hotels. I'll post those once he gets back with me. Allen
  3. I haven't been on RCCI out of Galveston, but just got back in November from a trip on Carnival. At that time, traffic was very light to the island. One thing to look out for: If traffic lights aren't working (they weren't in November), treat all intersections with them as a 4-way stop! Allen
  4. We've only been to the Mayan ruins across from Cozumel, so can't really help with a comparison. I enjoyed it immensely. My wife also enjoyed the actual ruins, but got seasick from the boat ride to/from the mainland (it's about 45 minutes to an hour each way). You also have a 60-90 minute bus ride in each direction - the difference being because you get the dubious privilege of stopping at a Mayan-run store for a half-hour. The ruins are very impressive, but we weren't allowed to go inside or climb on them (which makes sense from a preservation perspective, but was still disappointing!). Hope that's some help! Al Mather
