  1. I will let you know. An online friend was on the Sky in Europe in Nov and she rated the ship only 4 stars out of 5. She did not say why though.
  2. I'm on the Sky Princess on 22 Feb 2020. Anyone been on this ship yet. What were your favorite parts of the voyage?

  4. I just looked up the stateroom size of the Epic and the site said they were 235 square feet which would make them larger unless that couple we talked to had an inside stateroom which is a LOT smaller. They complained the beds were real short so ask if you are going to book the Epic.
  5. You're quite welcome. I must also add that the ships colors were toned down a lot for this ship. Most Carnival ships are quite garish...this ship was beautiful inside and out. We met a couple who had made the trans-Atlantic crossing on the Epic and they were very happy with the staterooms on the Magic compared to the Epic. They stated if you were over 5'7" you would be hanging over the end of the bed in your stateroom. The staterooms were quite small on the Epic compared to the Magic and the food was not as good on the Epic. The only experience that was better was the entertainment at night.
  6. Thanks you guys! I just picked up an inexpensive set to use on the cruise....we leave Thursday and sail on Sunday on the Magic! Have fun and thanks again.
  7. We are leaving for Barcelona on Thursday and will board the Magic and will leave a review here after we get back June 3rd. It's a 12 day cruise and we are packing already for the trip!
  8. Anyone ever take a CB radio to contact other members on their cruise??? Worth the time and luggage space to take them? Thanks.
  9. Thank you....you guys are the greatest!
  10. Thanks again. Yesterday I downloaded a book on Barcelona to my Kindle and then read up on the city. I'm going to do the same for all of these cities we are visiting. The books contain travel tips, descrptions, phrases in each language and maps! I love my Kindle! I bought a plastic coated map of Venice in Barnes and Noble. Rick Steves writes some excellent travel books for Europe and other places as well. I had one of his books and he gave lots of less expensive alternatives especially for transportation. Try the library or the bookstore. Google his name and you'll find lots of links including some Podcasts.

  18. MIAMI (February 24, 2010) - Carnival Cruise Lines is reporting record wave season bookings, with strong reservations activity for 2010 departures. As a result of the strong booking volumes, a general price increase will be implemented effective March 22 for all June, July, and August sailings. For the period of Jan. 1 through Feb. 21, 2010, bookings were at unprecedented levels for the line's 22 ships which operate three- to 15-day voyages from a variety of convenient North American home ports. Carnival President and CEO Gerry Cahill said, "We're seeing significantly increased volume as consumers are taking advantage of the incredible value that a Carnival cruise provides. And while pricing hasn't fully recovered to 2008 levels, we are increasing prices and will implement an across-the-board increase effective March 22." He said that the price increases will vary by departure date but will be up to 5 percent. Cahill attributed the record booking activity to a wide range of factors, including strong travel agent partner support, targeted marketing initiatives, itinerary enhancements and the wide variety of close-to-home departure points. Wave season typically runs from about mid-January through early spring and is traditionally the busiest, most important booking period in the cruise industry. Carnival Cruise Lines is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with 22 "Fun Ships" operating voyages ranging from three to 15 days in length to The Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Panama Canal, Canada, New England and Europe. Carnival also has two new ships on order -- the 130,000-ton Carnival Magic, which is scheduled for delivery in 2011, and a sister ship set to debut in 2012. 19. Thanks... you are always the best with the latest news!
  20. That would be great - thanks! I've seen lots of pics of other 7A cabins but just wondering if the lifeboat goes all the way to the end of the balcony on that particular cabin. It wouldn't be too big a deal if it does, I'm just curious. The main reason for getting a balcony at all is so DH can go out there and smoke because he won't smoke in the cabin (sorry nonsmoking neighbours - he doesn't smoke that much and is considerate). I DID notice on the deck plans that 5191 is very near the elevators.... means there can be quite a lot of noise from late night party people...I steer clear of vending machines and elevators when traveling
  21. I'm going on the Spirit, cabin 5173 next Friday... will let you know when I get back on the 1st as to what you can look forward to.
  22. We stayed in Hollywood before and after the cruise... can't remember the name of the hotel but it was a nice, safe neighborhood with lots to do and restaurants to choose from close by within a block of the hotel. Look up hotels in Hollywood, FL and good luck!
