murr got a reaction from Peddler in Daily Dock for JULY 2014
Hi, Remember us!!!
A lot has happened since we last spoke. Melonie and I sold our condo on Long Island and now live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Melonie went to her Employer and told them she was quitting so they transferred her to the Denver ,PA office about 25 miles from our house.
I gave my Resume' to a guy from the Fire Department here and he said he would keep an eye open for work, 2 weeks later he called and told me he would create a position for me with his company, I work in York ,PA about 20 miles to the west of our house.
MARYLOU, WE LOVE THIS AREA!! Our life has gotten better, slowed down a lot. The food here is great, we live in Amish country and am eating healthier and getting more exercise. People ask why we moved and we tell them it is a better quality of life we were seeking. And found it. We weren't going to cruise for a while but I caved and booked the Carnival Pride out of Baltimore for May 2015.
A big hello to everyone, I missed our daily conversations and hope to get on here more. I hope everyone is in good health.
Hello to RAY, Falina, Rose, Debbie and Jerry, just to name a few!

Hello.
First let me say THANK YOU to all worried about us up here. We are fine, only lost power for 24 hours after the catastrophic event that has touched are lives, which will never be the same.
30 years as a firefighter has not prepared me for what I have seen. ROSE, you wouldn't recognize the area. Everything on the south shore is gone or devastated. House are gone, neighborhoods are in other neighborhoods. Boats and cars were moved blocks from where they were parked. Breezy Point Queens lost 111 houses to a fire that they could not fight due to flooding. Long Island looks like New orleans after Katrina. We have never seen a storm like this. My sister lives in the house I grew up in and there is 3 feet of water in the kitchen. she was rescued the night of the storm by boat.
I could go on and on about all the things happening, but just think about what you would do without, power, toilets, water, food, gasoline, etc etc.
It's a survival mode right now.
We Long Islanders ask that you pray for us.
We will get through this. Others have and we will to. We are NEW YORKERS!!!!!!!!!!
Talk soon.

JASON,
Thanks for posting that article about AlQueda hijacking cruise ships. Before you go on your next cruise let me know, I'll look for articles on bedbugs and Norovirus. LOL!!!!

Tim, positively, for sure, good things happen when you are on the dock. Who's to say no, right? So happy that the pre-packing is underway. Glad you let us know.

I often make the same mistake and post in the "wrong forum". No one has scolded at me yet. So no worries on your behalf.
I have not been on Princess Saphire. But I have been on Caribbean Princess and truly loved the ship.
To answer your question, go back to forums (top left). Look down until you see ships. Within that section should be the Princess section.
Or just wait in this to see who replies. Daily Dock tends to get busy so you might get what you are looking for here.

Good Monday morning to all.
I see it was a nice weekend for everyone.
JENN, I know the feeling, 10 years ago I played Santa for the Fire Department. We had a full professional costume, I would put white make-up on all my hair and make my cheeks rosy with blush make-up. When we would go around to all the houses, I would get looks from children that would melt your hearts.
One day we went to this house, it was very run down. It was a youth home in a bad neighborhood. We decided to buy each child a bike. There was this one infant who wouldn't let anyone touch her, she screamed and yelled and cried. Then I went over to her and they told me no way will she let you touch her, they tried 3 times and each time she screamed an the local malls. WELL, I picked her up and she looked into my eyes and smiled and let me hold her to the point where when it was time to leave she wouldn't let me go. She had the most beautiful blue eyes. They counselors at the home said I looked like the real thing. I also stand 6' 4" high and make a big presence. It was a day I will remember for ever.
OK! let me go and wipe my eyes.
Be Back Later.!!!!!

Debbie - as the "Review" section isn't up and running at the moment here is our review.
RADIANCE OF THE SEAS - 12/2/2010
We embarked at 2 pm and within 10 minutes were on the ship.
Our immediate reaction onboard was Wow - all the glass, made the ship so bright, sparkly and once we had set sail it was endless vistas of blue ocean.
We went directly to our balcony cabin and were pleasantly surprised, it was pretty and well appointed with all the necessities. The bathroom was probably a little smaller than others with a rounded shower cubicle, but still had the shower curtain that, when wet, clings to your butt Another thing is their little soaps are wafer thin and the "soap dish" in the shower is metal bars with gaps between them. The wet soap would slip through and go tumbling to the floor, only to have the cold wet shower curtain make contact with your warm body everytime you had to retrieve it. Solution: Either a soap dispenser like the shampoo dispenser or a solid soap dish. The main complaint we had was ALL their towels and the terry robes were as hard and stiff as could be. No fluffy towels on this cruise. With that being said, we were really happy with our accommodations and the bed was probably the MOST comfortable bed we have ever had on all 22 cruises. Our cabin steward was also outstanding and couldn't do enough to make us happy .... his towel elephant and koala bear were big hits.
Our cabin was 2nd last from the rear of the ship so we had a long walk down the corridor to the elevators. Good exercise! There are no elevators at the rear of the ship, only mid ship and forward. We did try and use the stairs as much as we could (when my knee wasn't too sore) and the artwork kept us busy oohing and aahing, especially all the glasswork on the stairwells.
The bars and lounges were super. All light and bright with ceiling to floor windows and great bar staff. Our only complaint is that the entire Viking Crown lounge area was taken up every evening by Diamond-plus members as there were 166 of them onboard. This is a lovely lounge to sit and watch the ocean and we did on sail away - where we met a super waitress Mary, from South Africa.
The spa was very nice and the treatments offered were I felt of better value than Princess, although I made an appointment with a lovely young South African lady for my massage and when I got to th Spa, the Manager, in her wisdom, had changed my masseuse to someone else. She could see that I was pretty "ticked" and my 50 minute treatment became a 75 minute treatment. She also invited me to come back to the thermal suite whenever I wanted to. Woohoo!
While I am comparing the two cruise lines I will also say that I prefer the Compass to the Patter and also the fact that RCCL does not bombard you with sales pamphlets like Princess does, that was refreshing.
We only ate in the diningroom one night and the food was good and our wait staff were excellent! On the last night I popped in and took them their "envelopes" - I thought the waiter was going to kiss me, he got so emotional and thanked me over and over. This made me realize that other's who prefer to eat in the Windjammer, a we did, probably don't give their assigned wait staff any tips. The Windjammer food was very good and the selection was even better. Being on Weight Watchers it was easier for me to eat there where I could bulk up on fruit and veggies.
The entertainment was outstanding. The Piano Man production show was superb and the live show of Marty Allen was hilarious.
The Platinum/Diamond Captain's party was also very good, with all kinds of drinks flowing and a huge variety of hot and cold appetizers.
Summary:
LIKES:
Size of the ship - not too big or small
Muster - you do not take your lifevest with you.
Windows everywhere & glass elevators - fantastic views of the ocean
Back deck of Windjammer, sitting outside and having breakfast overlooking the wake.
Beautiful Solarium
Heavenly beds and bedding
Great variety of activities
Sushi in Windjammer each evening
Friendly staff
DISLIKES:
Embarkation and disembarkation processes not nearly as "flowing" or fast as Princess.
Hard towels and robes.
Cruise director's staff not the best - although we enjoyed him (Dan, Dan the party man) very much.
No chocolates on the pillow.
We truly have fallen in love with Royal Caribbean and the Radiance is a gorgeous, gorgeous ship ....... great food, great staff - what more could you want in a cruise?

Hope everyone has a good weekend. Melonie and I are going to see the comedian John Pinnette. We really need a good laugh and a night out before the tough days ahead. And the tough days past. Basically , a lot of tough days lately.

WELL, it's Thursday!! Really Friday Eve.
Temps dropped 20 degrees since yesterday, it's 39, but not so bad without a wind.
Thanks to Jason, he was able to restore my stuff. Past cruises, signature, etc. If anyone is having problems, drop him a PM. He was very helpful. All I needed to do was tweak it slightly.
Have a great day all.
Good Morning to MARYLOU, JIM, RAY and anyone just getting up or in.

Good evening all.
Deb-Stuart and Gizzy are good. Stuart has turned into a bully but protects us all. He follows Jack our dog and does everything he does.
