Carnival has a great "Photographic" excursion in Juneau It took us out whale watching and to the Mendenhall glacier. The phographer/guide gave us lots of tips. We saw many, many whales as well as eagles fishing and the noisy sea lion colony. We got lucky at the glacier and caught a bear scooping a salmon out of the stream.
DH went zip-lining in Ketchikan and raved about it.
The ports are all great for just walking around and shopping.
The waterfront area in Victoria is very pretty. Our provincial government building is great in the evening when it is all lit up.

We have done Alaska 3 times and I'd go back in a minute. My best advice is to do whatever you really want to do.........you may not get back there again.
We helicoptered to and walked on the glacier in Juneau and Skagway. Mendenhall glacier in Juneau was better. We also went whale watching in Juneau, excellent!
We too the float plane in Misty Fjords (Ketchikan). We also did the Lumberjack show in Ketchikan. Great town for walking in.

tljones, great excursion suggestions from Howard and Kevin. The only thing we could add is while in Juneau be sure to stop in at the Red Dog Saloon for a beer!

The train ride in Skagway is the White Pass Railroad. This is a must-do for this port. The scenery is spectacular and extremely exciting. There are several different excursinos that take you on the RR, and they're all good. We took a bus thru the White Pass into the Yukon, and then took the train back to to Skagway. That was one of our better excursions.
Like Kevin said, Juneau has great whale watching, and a drive-up glacier. . We combined the two. There is excursions that take you Whale Watching , then drop you off at the glacier before going back to the ship. Leave time to walk thru Juneau. Very nice little town.
Ketchikan is a nice walking town, but there are also good fishing excursions from there. Also some grat float plane and helicopter excursions.
In Victoria, go and see the gardens. They are amazing.

Juneau's a great place to go whale watching.
Skagway has a train ride right from the port. We tried to schedule a helicopter flight to a nearby glacier but the ceilings were too low that day.
Ketchikan has a neat little town that's fun to walk around, and a museum that's doesn't cost very much.
