  5. Disney for Halloween is a Dream time for kids. Again Disney shows they understand marketing. I believe they have some of the greatest marketing professionals in the business. They really understand entertainment.
  6. While they maybe able to pull off a cruise or two, I do not see this as a market with much growth. We are talking about cruise ships here and the whole cruise industry is built on overfeed them, lots of adults drinks, entertain them, and they will be happy. Kind of like trying to sell Halloween as a fitness holiday for kids. The lineup they have also seems to be very week. I think they could sell more fitness cruises if the hired stars had more profile. The US Olympic Volleyball Team for example, would sell more cruises. While the list is fitness stars no real "All American Stars" . That said it is in no way to downplay the USN Seals on the list, they are true American Heroes. But they need to bring the American Pubic into the marketing, so they need high profile names.
  7. The daily ups and downs in the market value of the cruise lines stock really means very little. You really need to look at the overall flow of the stock. All three of the major lines are gaining value over the last several years. Cruise profits are at record levels, lines building new ships and opening markets around the World. It is a growing market and the cruise profit show this.
  8. My friends on the big island have told me the air is getting better but the volcano is still very active. The Lava from Kilauea has flowed into Kapoho Bay, Hawaii has about 1 square mile of new land. Which now under the law belongs to the Federal Government.
  9. Most of this is just common sense stuff. Cruising is like every vacations in many ways, and different because it is on a boat. One point I found interesting was "Some individuals may feel dizzy or feel an ongoing rocking sensation after they return to land following a cruise." This rocking sensation is very normal, have spent lots of time on small personal boats, far away from land I know it is common. Spend a day or more on the open ocean and it can happen. I have talked to friends who served in the USN and they also said the same thing, it takes a day or two for your full land balance to come back. A friend who served as a officer on a Ohio Class Nuclear Sub told me he was fine at sea, never getting sea sick but back when back on dry land after 6 months at sea he lack balance for several days. So I believe it is a normal thing this rocking sensation, it should be limited after cruising on a large cruise ship because they really move very little. I remember times in small boats (50 feet) that the swells were large and when in the trough (bottom of the wave) you looked up saw just saw walls of water around you.
  10. It is a upscale add for adults. I think it is a great choice. And since they have the area already set up can be used to show other features besides just the sky and stars. I believe they can show any video they want.
  11. When anyone books a cruise they do have the right to quiet enjoyment of the cabin that they have paid for. And while some may not find this a issue it is really up to the person paying for the cabin to make a choice if they are affected or not to the point to cause a issue. The cabin offered was a downgrade to the guest who was affected, why should they be required to accept a downgrade. Also since the courts awarded over 2/3 of what was asked for and they heard all the information about the case, it shows the merits of the case.
  12. American ExPat living in SE Asia for the last 20 years. Living in the Philippines and enjoy traveling around South East Asia with my wife from the Philippines.  We enjoy three to four cruises a year. Have traveled to cruise ship or land to most major cities in SE Asia, enjoying life.

  13. Enjoy your cruise. Interested in seeing your posts and review.
  14. Nice to see to Princes ships here in the port. We have been thinking about doing a Princess Cruise nest February from here to Japan. We were in Keelung in March on a cruise, have been here several times. It is a city port, most guest get off the ship and go to Taipei but the port does have many things to do. It is a harbor so no beach at the at the port itself. Lots of rain here and the weather is on the colder side for much of the year.
  15. Someone needs to remind the Cruise Lines that they have ships and the laws of Physics need to be applied. Stop building ships that are ready big floating bath tubs. They cannot handle what the oceans can throw at them, someday it could result in worst ever disaster at sea. Go back to building ships that are true ships with safety and the ability to handle all trans ocean storms. Put these things above the profit of extra cabins, and bars.
  16. Singapore is a great City and Country. I love to travel to Singapore and do it several times a year. Lyn & I will spend four days before the cruise in Singapore, always a fun time. I think it is a must see city, holdings its own with any other City in the World. While it is same and has something for everyone. Nowhere else in the world can you have lunch in a Michelin Star food stall for under US$2.00 and for dinner be at Cut by Wolfgang Puck at the Marina Bay Sands for dinner. Another Michelin Star Restaurant and then go to the Sands Rooftop, spread over three towers to watch the city.
  17. I agree it is very hard to fall off a cruise ship, unless your are drunk or you jump. It is easier for a crew member to go over because of the work they are required to do. A few simple facts here, the Cruise Lines really do not care about this issue because systems are available now that Can tell the bridge in under one minute if anyone goes over the side and track them. The second hidden secret is the cruise do not care about crew going over the side. This is clear from the fact that in many cases they do not even turn the ships around and wait hours to report. It is cheaper in the long run to pay a couple of dollars to the family. The crews now on the big three cannot even sue in US Courts, which means the payouts are nothing for loss of life. Around US$50,000 dollars. In 2010 Cruise Vessel Security and Safety Act was passed in it is the requirement for the cruise industry to have these MOB Systems. But a catch 22 was also placed in the act saying required to have when the current MOB technology is feasible. So the out the cruise lines use is to say the technology is not reliable and therefore not ready, something better is 12 months away. Sometime better will always be 12 months away. Some great reputable manufacturers have systems they have tested and they work, they are proven proven technology and impressive. But not 100%, so the lines have not done as they should. Even if not 100% I say guest and crews lives are worth it, even if only 50%, most are 90% plus already. But the Cruise Lines again want the profits, Royal made over 3.5 billion dollars last year... is not the lives of guest and crew worth a 100 million dollar investment?
  18. Sorry but I never have a problem finding space for bags, my foot area is also clear because I fly in Exit Rows on shorter flights. On longer flights not a issue as lots of storage and with my flight status can board the plane early. I find carry on luggage easy to do. But if you are last to board and no space I have never seen a airline that would not short check the bag. Check it at the plane and it is waiting at the Jetway when you get off. The same service they provide for baby strollers and such.
  19. One thing to note if you do only carry on for the airline fight you will be limited as to what you can take. Limit on items and amount of liquids. My normal way to travel is with a backpack and a roller bay. I check the roller bag getting on the ship but self roll off so no waiting. Two people two roller bags and two back packs gives you lots of room. If a longer cruise I add a soft duffel bag which getting on I can check but off I can put on top of the roller bag and again not deal with luggage finding, waiting, and pick up.
  20. What should be taken from this is that the passenger did win, asked for $3200 and got $2400. No one should believe any Cruise Line when they say nothing can be done, or we can do under the contract. Because the cruise contract is subject to how the courts read it not what the cruise line says. And since must passengers pay by credit card the Credit Card Agreement takes first place or the cruise passage contract in the event of a dispute. While some may say filing these suits is wrong and going overboard, they are allowed under the law, and within the passengers rights to file them. Myself I think the Cruise Industry in general needs more of these suits filed to be held accountable for the many ways they try to push guest and crew around.
  21. It is becasue "Cruise Ships" today are really not design to be ocean going ships. Lets face facts, they are floating bath tubs with a hotel resort on top of them. They are design to be a resort for guests, that happen to float on claim waters. It is all about maximum passengers, more balcony cabins, bigger and more for the guest. Look at true ocean liners or ships built for trans ocean trips they do not look like the average cruise ship today. And while some cruise ships are very large, they are also very top heavy. But the largest cruise ships in the world in a the middle of a class 4 hurricane and they will not come out in good shape, unlike real ships which have been through the middle of these storms. Even the largest ships in the World are very very small in a major storm. That is why cruise lines run away from storms. The SS United States was a true ocean liner at 54,000 GT it was more stable in seas than the most advance modern cruise liner today is. And the SS United States went into service in 1951, almost 70 years ago, if she was still operational she would run circles around today's cruise ships in any weather, with a cruising speed 150% of the average current cruise ships.
  22. Maybe someone here has more information about this. I go a email about it and then Googled and found a little more. It seems a TV Show out of UK Called Shipmates chartered Royal Caribbean Cruises Vision of the Seas for a reality TV show on Channel 4 TV. It was marketed as a “"party-fueled luxury cruise ship" cruising the Mediterranean. About 20 people on the cruise were in a TV Show contest, but they involved many passengers and the ship was filled with 20 something party kids. The Shipmate contestants competed in challenges and other passengers would judge the winners and losers. But it turned into a drunk party reported Cocaine was being supplied around the ship. Anchored Travel chartered the ship from Royal Caribbean Cruises and sold the passage on the ship. They have another cruise set for 2019. Found this story Some highlights from Sun News “cops raided the boat”. Picture show packages of what looks like Coke. Passengers told The Sun: "It was easier to get a bag of coke on-board than it was to get a drink. It was mad." “Sometimes you didn’t know if you were on a cruise or in the middle of some drug-fuelled orgy.” “People were smoking weed.” What happen to Royals zero tolerance policy for use of illegal drug? Maybe another member here knows more...
