Well I'd like a cozy night out for my dh & I..and the best we can do for food where we are is Subway...lol..

or a Service station diner.. yuck..lol..

We'd like to eat supper w/our children every night as this is a good time for us all to be together..unless they ditch us for pizza night or something..

I heard the steaks and such are very good at some of those restaurants but since I'm a veggie gal don't matter much to be...

But I thought maybe we would order room servcie instead and have a lovely dinner on the balcony..

Just my 2 cents..

I like your new avatar, jtutak.

We never pay extra to dine while on a cruise. For us, part of the appeal of cruising is that it is an all inclusive vacation. We're also very happy with the food that is served in the dining room and at the buffet. We eat in restaurants at home very often so to us, it's just not important to do that.

We are with you and Cheryl, we've never paid extra to dine in a so called specialty restaurant on a cruise ship. What for, the dining room and the buffet are fine for us. Leaves more money for the bar and casino tab.

We have not done so either. I can't see the point in spending the extra bucks for my wife the vegetarian. I think it is also not polite to our tablemates.

For us it has been an even more expensive proposition as we have to convert from the Canadian looney into greenbacks. The rate is more favouarable now at about a 20% differential, but when our dollar was in the US$.65 range it was horrible.

I have been reading 'Cruise Ship Blues' and the author is talking about how the lines are trying to find new ways to part us from our money. Elsewhere I have read where the ship 'pre-authorizes' your credit card for $60 a day plus $10 for tips. We fall below the average if that is what it is.

Mostly we are buying shore excursions and a couple of shirts. No big bar tab, gambling tab or art purchases. But we did do some damage in St. Thomas this winter.

Now that I think about it, I am surprized they let us on the ship!

Thats what I was thinking also for myself, not much point..I will say I did leave the dinning room a few nights hungry....as salad didn't always do the job...

Don't flame me to say I could of had lots to eat....not really.... I will say I did try pasta's without the meat, but the heavy creams were too much..and I can't do dairy well anyway...I did ask for more plain pasta but it was a no go...

So I would head to the pizza area and grabbed some veggie pizza...We mostly dined in the dinning room every night so we could visit and catch up with our tablemates to see how their day went..and for my dh to eat...
