When you are onboard and book another cruise...How much do they require you to put down for deposit..or do you have to pay in full?? Or am I totally misunderstanding when you have said you booked another while on cruise...Do you book while on cruise or when you get back?? Is it cheaper to book while onboard???

 Good question. You can book another cruise while onboard. I doubt if you have to pay in full and am not sure about the amt. of deposit needed. As for the discount I'm not sure but as we are leaving in a few days I'll be sure to check it out. I wonder if the discount would be in the form of an onboard credit.

Princess has you deposit $100 per person. The discount is a cabin credit. The amount of the credit depends on the cabin type and the length of the cruise you eventually book. Princess does not require that you book a specific cruise, but you can do that also. We put down a deposit on the last 2 cruises we took with Princess. On our last cruise, we received a $100 cabin credit. I'm not sure how the other cruise lines work because I have never done it through any other line. Enjoy your cruise.

The only line I know about from first hand experience is Royal Caribbean. We always book our next cruise while on board. You have the pay the full deposit - put onto a credit card, not your shipboard account and you receive onboard ship credits in amounts depending on the length of your cruise. As an example we booked a 9 day cruise for August 07 when we were on the Explorer this past May. We paid a $450 PP deposit (the usual deposit for a 9 day cruise) and received a $200 ship board credit towards our expenses on the ship. We can transfer the booking to a TA or keep it with RC and can also change the cruise we booked as long as we keep the same booking #.

Hope this helps.

The deposit is good for, I believe, 4 years. If you don't use it, it is refundable. You can have it refunded at any time during that 4 years. Also, if you use a TA, the deposit and future cruise will all go through them.

Howard has pretty well explained the Princess system. The deposit is as he said and it is charged to one of your credit cards. The booking will be transfered to the travel agent of your choice, if you select a specific cruise while on board. On our last cruise we received a $200 credit to our cabin from Princess and an additional $100 from our travel agent.

We will most likely be booking two future cruises while on board the Crown Princess on our next cruise. One for the Carribean in March and one for Northern Europe in June or July. It saves tying up large deposits and the shipboard credits are great.

Prior to boarding I'll check prices on our selected cruises and have our bookings transferred to the TA of our choice who is offering the best pricing and overall package.

Hope this helps.
