seauonboard
I have been reading info on this and was wondering if anyone has any opinions etc on it. Thanks This is only opinion as US Direct was not available to us when we got off Carnival in Vancouver. It is my understanding that US Direct is a way to bypass customs - making it easier to you to get through the airport and one the ship or on your flight home. If arriving in Vancouver by plane you meet at a designated place and you are taken to a bus. You are given special luggage tags to put on your luggage before you leave your home. Your luggage will be sent on to the ship. The bus is sealed and you are taken directly to the pier. The same process happens if you are using US Direct coming into Vancouver by ship. You are taken off the ship and put into buses - your luggage is sent ahead - the bus is sealed and you are taken to the airport and through security where you then catch your flight. If at any point you leave the airport or the ship you have to go through customs. There is more information available here - http://www.portvancouver.com/vanAlaCruise/...s/usDirect.html. Enjoy your cruise - we LOVED Alaska.
