Less Royal Caribbean cruises will be leaving from Norfolk in 2009.

The cruise line says it will have seven sailings next year, down from 13 this year.

The 2008 and 2009 trips will be on the 1,950-passenger Grandeur of the Seas.

Stephen Kirkland, Norfolk's cruise operations manager, says Royal Caribbean reduced its Norfolk sailings because not enough families with children were taking trips. That meant the cruises weren't making as much money. Royal Caribbean says it is committed to Norfolk as a home port.
