Alaska packing

Hello all so many questions for our alaska cruise one is do u suggest packing winter and summer cloths or one

We have been to Alaska 3 times and each time the weather was warm for Alaska. We went in June twice and it was 80 in Juneau! The last time in July it poured rain.....and was damp.

My suggestion is to pack layers. If you plan on going to the glacier you will need heavier clothes and gloves. Also pack rain ponchos!!!! It rains daily in some ports.

There is only one way to pack for Alaska. Layers. The weather is very finicky. One day it may be in the low 50's and rainy, and the next it can be in the upper seventies and sunny. One thing you can count on is that when you're around the glaciers, it will be cold (was in the 40's in early July when we were there). Fleece is always a nice thing to have.

I wore track suits most of the time - the lined ones - not to hot - not too cold. Also a heavy rain proof jacket and good waterproof hiking boots.

We also took lighter rain jackets but didn't use them. The worst weather was during the day at the Glaciers - it poured but not too cold....and you can run inside for a warm up.

We took hats as well - the trilby kind - they dry out really quickly - unlike a wool toque :o)

We the best advice has already been given - LAYERS! We have cruise twice and then RVed there for 4 months.... we have experienced weather from the 80's down to the 30's. Of course the ship is climate controlled... but out on deck especially near the glaciers can get mightly cold. We have been extremely blessed and not had rain, although we took ponchos with us... they are small and light! Enjoy... we are totally in love with Alaska.
