MCO to Port Canaveral in Nov.

Hello All,

We are planning a family cruise in Nov. over Thanksgiving. Trying to decide whether to purchase the Cruiseline (RCCL) airfare/transfer package or go with our own travel arrangements.

I'm trying to figure out the best and least expensive way to get five people plus luggage from the airport to the pier. We are open to flying in a day early, but how will we arrange ground travel?

Does anyone have any ideas, contact info. and approximate costs?

Does anyone have thoughts about airline ticket prices? We are flying from MSP (Minnesota) to MCO (Orlando) and right now the cost for tickets is close to $500 each. Do you think they will come down? Howlong would you wait to buy?

Drew, we are taking the same cruise for Jan 2, 2011. We decided to drive the 860 miles as our airfare was going to be about $450.00/ea. They were routing us to Detroit and then to Orlando. Our regional airport is EVV and we do not have discount airlines serving us.

Driving was a thought but the drive is about 1700 miles one way. The kids need to be back at school Monday after the Sunday we arrive back in the Cape. So, we must fly. I am hoping the airfares will come down to a managable fare.

A couple of the flights I've check on so far have a stop in Denver so we may have to go west to get to the east.

I know one shuttle that goes to Port Canaveral is Arts Shuttle. They have a good reputation but I have never used them. Look for a website with a FareWatcher so you can track you airfare.

We have cruised out of Port Canaveral several times but have relatives living in Orlando so never used a shuttle. Many of the hotels can book you a shuttle but do not know the pricing. There are several shuttle services on the internet.

Port Canaveral is an hour away from MCO. There are shuttles running every hour starting about 10:00 am from the airport and nearby hotels.Rates start about $40pp one way but go down as the party size increases.

Coca Beach Shuttle is another option to and from MCO and PC. As you are flying over a holiday (your Sunday return is a really expensive day), I doubt your airfare will go down.
