Stay or Leave the Ship at Port

I know a lot of people who are perfectly content to spend their entire voyage on the ship. They don't take any excursions and rarely disembark at ports of call. Others love shore excursions. Where do you stand on the topic?

It depends on the itinerary whether or not we stay on the ship. Some ports I have been to many times and many times we'll stay on and enjoy the ship.

So far we have only stayed on if one of us was sick. Jerry had a terrible cold the first time we stopped in San Juan so we didn't get off. He had bad asthma the first time in Belize (he stayed, I went). I had a horrible migraine this past time and it was rainy and dreary so we both stayed and missed Roatan/Honduras.

We usually get off even if we have been to the port before...I think in 10 cruises we only stayed on the ship at one port.

It's interesting to see what folks do. I like to go ashore and she what is happening. I want to experience the culture and just have some fun. Of course, maybe if I've been there many times, it would become old.

No way we stay Jose. Actually one of the criteria, the main criteria really is to see places we've never been to before.

Yeah. I think the difference could be if you are cruising for the places you're going or just to relax on a ship. Repeat goers may have different expectations as mentioned here.

There are ports we really don't care to leave the ships. Then are ports we have been to many times an really enjoy. For us the port would determine what we do.

I guess for me and my limited cruising, I've wanted to see it all. I think the more cruises a person goes on, the more in play the question of port of call becomes.
