Lots and lots of hand washing. You can't help touching things, and everything could have germs on it. Just remember, just because you read about cruises and norovirus, there is many more cases on land. Probably someone who is reading this has it and didn't get it on a ship

Avoid touching common areas with my hands. Always use a paper towel when exiting the public bathroom; use my elbow to push buttons; lots of hand sanitizer; lots of airbourne before and after plane rides; try to avoid touching my face

Like everyone else said wash, wash wash. I bring my own anit-bacterial soap. Lots of hand sanitizers and when we first go in the cabin I wipe down the door knobs, light switches and remote with lysol wipes. Extreme? perhaps but an ounce of prevention............

I have to tell you that I never thought about wiping down the common areas in the cabin until I joined cruise crazies and you all told me that you did this. I love this idea and have been wiping down the cabin knobs, switches, balcony door, etc. ever since!
