Carnival Cruise Lines has revamped its shipboard outdoor movie-viewing experience to feature theme nights, custom-made movie trailers, branded popcorn boxes and more. Dubbed Dive-In Movies, the open-air theater experience is part of the line’s extensive “Fun Ship 2.0” product enhancement initiative that is being rolled out across the fleet.

Dive-In Movies include a wide range of popular titles appealing to all ages – from family films and animated features to action flicks and romantic comedies – which are enjoyed on a massive 270-square-foot screen located poolside and featuring superior picture quality and a 70,000-watt sound system. Theme nights such “Date Night,” “Oscar Winners” and “Classics” are also available.

Guests can view their favorite films from the Lido pool or nearby whirlpools – hence the Dive-In Movies moniker – or relax in one of dozens of chaise lounges available. Branded logo items include popcorn boxes as well as complimentary blankets available for check out at a kiosk conveniently located on Lido Deck.

Dive-In Movies are currently available on 12 Carnival ships that offer LED screens – Carnival Destiny, Carnival Triumph, Carnival Victory, Carnival Conquest, Carnival Glory, Carnival Freedom, Carnival Liberty, Carnival Valor, Carnival Splendor, Carnival Dream, Carnival Magic, and the new Carnival Breeze. Dive-In movies will also be part of the on-board offerings of the Carnival Sunshine, which is currently sailing as Carnival Destiny and will emerge as Carnival Sunshine following a $155 million refit this spring.

In addition to displaying movies several nights during the cruise, Carnival’s LED screens showcase sporting events, news, concerts, and other programming, including the cruise director’s morning show.
