Queen Latifah soon will join the ranks of celebrities who have christened a cruise ship.

Cruise giant Carnival today revealed the Grammy award-winning musical artist and actress had been named the godmother of its soon-to-debut Carnival Horizon and would preside over a christening ceremony for the ship in New York City.

In addition to taking part in the christening ceremony, scheduled for May 23, Queen Latifah will participate in a special “Lip Sync Battle: Horizon” event on board the 3,954-passenger vessel. The event will take place during an invitation-only overnight gala.

Currently under construction at a shipyard in Italy, Horizon is a sister to Carnival Vista, which debuted in 2016 and is Carnival's biggest ship ever.

Like Vista, Horizon will boast an 800-foot-long sky ride around its top deck and, on the inside, an IMAX Theater. Both were new-for-the-industry offerings when they debuted on Vista. Other notable features will include a 455-foot-long water tube attraction that will be part of a Dr. Seuss-themed water park.

New on Horizon will be a Guy Fieri-themed smokehouse and brewpub that serves up smoked-on-board barbecue and house-made craft beer. Dubbed Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B-Que Smokehouse|Brewhouse, it's the latest eatery on a Carnival ship to come from a partnership between the line and the celebrity chef. Several Carnival ships already boast Fieri-themed barbecue outlets that don't have attached breweries. Fieri-themed burger stands also can be found on most Carnival vessels.

Horizon also will have a Teppanyaki restaurant — another first for Carnival.

Scheduled to debut in early April, Horizon will operate four Mediterranean sailings out of Barcelona before crossing the Atlantic to New York for a series of cruises to Bermuda and the Caribbean. In the fall, it'll move to Miami. Fares start at $419 per person for a six-night Caribbean sailing from Miami.
