  1. I THOUGHT I heard somebody mention Alaska in this thread!!!! My very favorite place to cruise!!!!! As far as private islands go, we would rather have a sea day. I don't really like beaches and stay on the ship anyway. Wonderful way to get into the spa  .........and I can't spell either
  2. We also had the same nightmare with a local travel agency who must have picked out a cabin by throwing a dart at the deck plans. Since then we go with an online agency who has been very good to us. We strayed one time to another online and that was OK but, not great. The one we stick with can be reached 24/7 by phone and responds instantly.
  3. OK, I admit it.....I'm a tourist at heart and love traditions on the ships!! I refuse to eat that nasty baked Alaska but, I enjoy the parade and the sappy antics with the napkins and all. You know the first time we were in Jamaica and this beat up old flat bed truck came by down one of the streets with a calypso band playing on it, I actually cried. It was just such a treat to see them playing and it was a genuine band from the island, I was thrilled beyond words. Yep, sappy, traditional, don't take the demise of these things easily!!
  4. I'll be posting more after I get this house painted! What a mess!
  5. We tend to stick to traditional also, especially for dinner. DH refuses to get up to eat breakfast so normally we eat that meal in the cabin. On sea days, lunch in the DR is a treat but, seating with 12 new friends each day is not something we wish to do very often. Now dinner is another story because that is our cue to unwind for the rest of the evening and we truly enjoy meeting and knowing the background of our waiter and assistant waiter. Being quiet people by nature we like to sit by ourselves and interact with the staff. Most of our socialization is on the decks with other passengers. DH and I aren't antisocial but we ARE best friends and enjoy being alone together.
