  1. Let me clarify why I raised the question of a passport. It wasn't that I didn't want to pay for one it was the problem involving my son. As you may not be aware, the requirements for issuing a child a passport have changed. Both parents must sign off on the application. In my case, I have no idea where my son's dad is so how can I get him to sign the application? The state department will waive that requirement if my son's dad's name isnt on his birth certificate..which it is obviously. As most people's are. So now I would have to try and track him down and or attempt to get the state deartment to believe that I have no contact with his dad to avoid having his dad sign. As for me..I have always had a passport. My main complaint with Carnival was that the girl I spoke with had no idea what she was talking about. Or what her website showed. This was obvious after I hung up on her and called Carnival back. All I was doing was trying to get the correct information. I don't need someone harrassing me about trying to get that information.
  2. Yesterday I spoke with a woman at Carnival cruises. She actually called me to see if I ahd any questions on the cruise that we had just booked. So, of course, I made the mistake of asking a question. I asked her if we "HAD" to have passports to sail to mexico and back on April 16th, 2006. SHe said "Absolutely..Unless you are only sailing between US ports everyone is required to have a passport". I pointed out to her that Carnival's website specifically states travel to MExico occuring prior to December 2006 does not need a passport. Just an FYI, it's not a problem to get passports just something I really didn't want to have to do..it's a long story involving my son and his "long-lost" dad and the requirements to get my son a passport w/out his dad signing for it. So after arguing with her for 30 minutes about what their website states, she put me on hold and asked a supervisor. Or at least thats what she said she did. She came back with the same answer. I was so frustrated that I hung up with her and called Carnival back. The next woman states no passport needed until December '06 for travel to Mexico. So...can anyone give me the correct answer??? At this point I have no idea whom to believe!
  3. I'd be the lounge chair reservation officer! No more "saving" tons of chairs for family/friends..1st come 1st served
  4. Hi! My 11 yr old son and I will be crusing to the Mexican Riviera on 04/16/06 leaving from Long Beach. This is our first cruise so, of course, we have lots of questions. In the past we have always gone to Hawaii for Spring Break. But we recently decided to try a cruise. I'm a little concerned that my son won't have a lot to do onboard ship. Has anyone used Camp Carnival and what was your experience. Keep in mind my son is 11 and doesnt like to do anything "girlish" or "babyish". We booked a guarantee cabin in 4A hoping we get upgraded. I figure we stand a pretty good chance since we booked 10 months early. Never having been to MExico, could someone give me some idea of which shore excursions would be best..no horseback riding please  Also, the dress in the dining room states "no jeans, shorts". How much do they stick to this? Not for me, but my son doesnt own any dress clothes and probably wouldn't wear them if he did! That's all for now. I'm sure I'll be back alot with many more questions!
