  1. It's the main cruise ship dock, but not the only one. The other dock is Ballantyne pier. Check with your cruise line or this link http://www.portvancouver.com/vanAlaCruise/...edule/index.php? to determine which is the correct pier. In general, ships from Royal Caribbean and Celebrity use Ballantyne; everyone else uses Canada Place. Check the hours for the train. I think there's only one train a day, and it may bee to late for connections with your cruise on the day of the cruise. Thanks for the link, Zaandam leaves from Canada Place! So we'll either take Amtrak or Quick Shuttle from SEA to Canada Place. Either leaves pretty early in the morning so we'll get to pier before 1pm. Then from Seward to Anchorage, we'll take the train to enjoy scenary on the way. Now all that's left is to book the excursions. Appreciate everyone's help!
  2. Just found a shuttle going from SEA to Vancouver. One of the stop is Canada Place Pier, I am hoping that's the cruise ship dock.
  3. hi Sharon... Welcome to CruiseCrazies.. and how exciting an alaskan cruise... David works for Amtrak... I will ask him how the service between Seattle and Vancouver is... as far as reliablity... i will get back to you.. Sharon David said that the service between Seattle and Vancouver is done thru a connecting bus service which requires additional fares... Had you ever thought about a one way rental car? Yes, rental car is definitely on our option list. I just want to check to see if there are other better alternatives.
  4. hmmm, after looking at the excursions available through the cruise ship, I do see that transfer from Seward to Anchorage can be purchased as an excursion. So will it be better to book a bus/train on our own or easier through HAL? And I assume prepaid transfer voucher means you booked the excursion prior to the cruise???
  5. Hi everyone. I am new to this board. My new husband and I decided last minute to take a cruise on HAL to Alaska in July so we need alot of help to get all the plannings together. We're not using a TA because we are using hotel reward points to cover the cruise and will only be paying for air. I do have a few questions on the rest of the logistics so if anyone can provide some recommendation it will be greately appreciated! 1. What is the best option, bus vs. train, as transportation from Seward to Anchorage (I assume we need to book this on our own)? 2. Cruise leaves from Vancouver but we're thinking about flying into Seattle to spend a couple days there. Is train the best way to go from Seattle to Vancouver? And what is the best option to go from train station to the port, taxi or bus? 3. If we want to book excursions on our own instead of through the cruise line, what is a good website to book these? These are the main ones I have right now, I am sure I'll have other questions in the future. Thanks! - Sharon
