  1. Well, our cruise (1st for me and my friend) - I wish I would have known about the message boards before I booked on the Carnival Ectascy. After booking I started reading the message boards. I read alot of negative things about the Ectascy, but really thought my cruise would be wonderful. 1st) Our AC in our cabin was not working correctly. We went to the called the Information (Purser) desk and they sent a main person (so they said) and adjusted the thermostat. Keep in mind the temperature was around 85 degrees outside and getting warmer the further into the Carribean we went. That night it was so hot in the cabin we were sweating. Next day called and went to the Information Desk - were told because the water temperature was increasing the AC was effected. BS! It did not effect the rest of the ship. We asked for a fan. NO! It was a safety hazard. Thank goodness our steward was wonderful. He totally understood our delima. Our cruise was for 5 nights - the 2nd to last night - he showed up with a fan. He received a huge tip from us (on top of the regular tip). The fan helped, a little. We would have to leave our door open for cool air - but of course at night or while dressing - we would have to close the door. Carnival offered $100.00 reimbusement for the problem. 2nd) Our only excusion (booked thru Carnival) was cancelled. Said the water was too rough. It was the beginner scuba in Carma Del Playa (Calica). I will tell you Carma Del Playa looks like an industrial site when you port there, but a taxi took us into the city and it is was a beautiful town nestled on the water and had fabulous shops and restaurants. This was my 1st and probably last cruise. Certainly on Carnival. I was completely blown away with attitudes. All the different languages and trying to understand - a simple smile is an international language that everyone understands..........!!! Just sign me so - let down............We did not let all this ruin our good time. We still met some wonderful people. The food was medicore. I recommend a different Cruise for those who want to take a cruise. And from now own I will fly to where I want to go - stay a week and fly back. Carnival just does not have what it takes for a relaxing vavation. Texas Lady

  6. Yep- we're still going! We had a heart to heart looooonnng talk. Pretty much told her everything I said in the previous stuff. I had decided I was going solo. Well, she has apologized and says her shrink told her the same stuff I told her. How bout that.........but don't think for 1 min - I think she's changed. I just l know she wants to go on the cruise and not loose any of her money. But I'm bring duct tape and chains.............LOL Might need to use the duct tape for something other than a suitcase that came undone!!! LOL Wish me luck. Thanks all
  7. My cabin mate and I are thinking of renting a VW Convertible Bug and see the sights of Cozumel on our own. Has anyone else done this?? We are females (50ish) and think this might be the way to go - because then we can stop and shop or go to the beach for parasailing, etc. Give me your opinions, please. thanks From the Texas Ladies on the 4-9 Galveston 5 night cruise.
  8. Doing the Doc Dance - Received our papers 11 days - but who's counting! Wish us luck that the Escatasy doesn't have any problems. If someone knows how insert the dancing people - please do so! Thanks all
  9. I should mention (we are 2 females) - friends??? Well, begin by saying I was the first x-wife, and the is the 2nd x-wife. And yes, he's married for the 3rd time. It has always been a strange friend-ship..........In the beginning I really felt sorry for her (since I'd been married to the same guy myself) -oh & she was the other woman! Thought I should mention that. But I've always felt that she actually did me a favor. Anway, when she opted to get out of their marriage she felt the only way was suicide. Ok ---- when she started calling and coming by to visit, I really felt like I could help her self esteem............... She really does not have any friends. And going on a cruise sounded like fun! Now, everything has become a competion.........I started dieting back in Dec. and lost maybe 15-17 #'s------------so she did the same thing - and of course she said she did not need to loose any weight (that she's a size 8) When pigs fly is she a size 8 - more like a 12-14 & I'm a size 14-16! She wants to see pictures of all my clothes I bought for the cruise (we don't live in the same town, anymore) She has had hair cut and colored the same as mine..........I feel like Identity Theft is happening............ As much as I need this vacation.......(I work 2 full time jobs) - I'm started to dread it too! Please advise...........I don't want to cancel.......I don't want to have a big blow up either.......and I don't want to say something to set her back to where she is popping pills to escape reality. But she is starting to effect my self esteem. Maybe I helped her self esteem, too much. There's no such thing as a Bad Cruise???? Well, my decision is to make the best of it...........I'm spent way to much money to back out now.......I am afraid of her making a scene on the ship.........she is much the complainer! and does not mind embarassing anyone. Sry this is so long - its that fight/flight stressor, coping thing going on in my head.
