For me part of the fun of booking a cruise is picking a cabin. On my 3rd cruise I had my first balcony cabin, that did it for the rest of my cruises. Love my balcony! Since I'm a bit of a control freak I like selecting my own cabin with no upgrades. However.............
On one of my HAL cruises I got a huge surprise . I had booked a wonderful aft cabin, when I checked in at the pier & got my boarding pass I noticed that it had a different cabin #. I questioned the clerk and told her I liked my cabin and didn't want to give it up. How could they do this? She smiled and said don't worry this cabin is just as nice. On most HAL ships a steward escorts you to your cabin, so we followed the steward and he led us to our new home for the next 7 days. A beautiful aft Suite including all suite ammenities, and I do mean all. As an added bonus we had a huge, HUGE balcony.
I was lucky this happened but I still feel strongly about what cabin I book.
