Re: Inverness May be biased as have family living there so have visited a couple of times. Well situated city with the river running through. Visit Urquhart Castle on the banks of Loch Ness - in a wonderful setting.

re: Liverpool This city has changed a lot recently and has a lot going for it and is a must see ! Check out the Albert Dock area, the two cathedrals, the Walker Art Gallery and let's not forget the Beatles ! I believe the city wants to rival Southampton as a cruise port.

Thanks for replies. Love cruises. Prefer no-fly cruises from the UK but not always possible. Had a great deal recently on the Norwegian Jade sailing from Barcelona to the Canary Islands so looking for the next good deal. So many around at the moment. Also love river cruises. Would like to try the Douro in Portugal or in my dreams a trip on the Mississippi in the US would be nice !
