  1. How would you feel IF your flight was delayed and you didn't get on the ship???? At least this way if there are mechanical problems you could get rebooked and still make it, if you had a later flight and there were problems you would be SOL and the ship DOES not wait for anyone. I just came back from 11-night caribbean and left from Maine in a blizzard, we originally were booked for a 5:50AM flight on Sunday morning(ship leaving Monday at 5:00PM) We were rebooked 4 TIMES! and finally had to drive to Manchester NH at 3:30AM to catch a flight from there. We made it, but many people did not, some picked up the cruise two days later in Puerto Rico, others just gave up. The ship never even considered leaving later. I talked to people who were supposed to leave Boston and had to take a train to Washington DC and then a tram to airport and finally made it, but just barely. And if you don't have travel insurance you really are SOL! Many people had the same horror stories. My understanding was that Philiadelphia airport was also experiencing problems. Just because YOUR weather is okay doesn't mean you will fly. If the weather is bad elsewhere the planes can't get to your airport to pick you up. If a 6:00AM flight is your only problem, be thankful.
  2. Go to Carnival.com and look at the deck plans. You are on the Verandah Deck and you can tell from the pictures that the balcony is about twice the size of the other balconies further along the ship. This is the same on RCCL Deck 7, it really is a big difference! I book these rooms specifically for this advantage. The room size is no larger but the balcony sure is! You can fit two chairs, small table and a lounge chair on the deck.(Or TWO lounge chairs).
  3. Thanks all for the well wishes....if I can get out of Maine I'll be thrilled...we are in for a BIG snowstorm tonight and my 5:50am flight tomorrow morning is already cancelled. I have been rebooked and hope to fly out of Portland, Maine at 1:30pm tomorrow if they get the runway cleared! Good thing the ship doesn't leave until Monday at 5:00pm. If the 1:30pm flight doesn't fly we are tentatively scheduled Monday morning at 7:30 am getting into Miami at 1:00 PM....the suspense is killing me. Keep your fingers crossed and say a prayer for us!
  4. We cruised the Western Carribean 11-night on Brilliance and now we are leaving in 14 days for the Eastern Carribean 11-night on Brilliance. And I'm the opposite! I love all the island stops so I look for a cruise that stops as many places as possible. It works out great...ship docks in the morning, you have all day to explore, shop or do excursions, you can come back to the ship if you want and then they depart around 5:00 pm or so and you can enjoy all the evening activities, go to sleep and wake up at the next port and do it all over again. The Eastern was great, wasn't too impressed with Jamaica but Grand Cayman, Aruba, and Curacao were wonderful! I'm interested in comparing the Eastern islands now on this upcoming trip. Good luck deciding!
  5. Brillance of the Seas, 11-night Eastern Carribean 1/24/05, into countdown mode big time!
