  1. My hubby and I are taking our second cruise on RC leaving Baltimore on Christmas Eve and return after the new year.....is there any special holiday events, meals, etc.? Fireworks or NY Eve countdown? Just curious as what to expect; thanks for all advice and feedback
  2. Being the first cruise,, we've heard various adn contradicting stories from friends who are previous cruisers. We're going out on the Pride in 10/10, and both my husband and I are asmthamtic and semi-allergic to smoke. I called the cruise agency we booked thru to see if our balcony room (4211) is going to be a balcony we can't use with chances of multismokers around us. Their response was that any cruiser is entitles to smoke in their stateroom and balcony (and then she said she doesn't think Pride has staterooms) and smoking is on the port or strboard side (according to her we're on starboard). Can anyone with previous experience explain this so we know we can enjoy the cruise?
  3. Yeah, we took this shot about a year ago at the Baltimore Aquarium-- my hubby's nicjmane is Turtle,s o it's a inside theme for us

  4. Thanks so much--- some of the menus I'd looked at for other Carnivals were charging for room service, and I was under the impression (of the catalgos and other cruise books I read) that room service was free- other than sodas and alcohol
  5. Not far away- my husband works in Clinton!!

  6. Sorry for swapping the boards, but as an anxious cruise virgin, I would prefer to gatehr as much info in advance so I'm not left with any surprises.... In the case my hsub and I chose room service, has anyone got a copy of th eroom service menu they took home, or took pictures, etc. that can be sent to me? I've tried searhing images in yahoo and Google, but the photos posted are so far away r out of focus, you can't read them. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  7. I recently purchased a subscription for the Cruise Travel mag, and I notice every issue they do a focus highlight on a ship.....I've tried theri archives and emailing them without sucess to date- has anyon ever seen the spread highlight on the Pride, and can you either forward a link or scans of the artice which I can print? I didn't think it's be this hard. I'm not looking for reviews, since I can find an ulimited number of those.
  8. Hi- WOndering if anyone has any experience in having their wedding vows renewed on a cruise ship, particluary a Carnival? We'll be on th ePride, adn I'd like to surprise my hubby with it 9at that point we'll have just celebrated our 4th), but th eonly info I can find is for weddings with guests, adn they run $700 and up. It would only be me and hubby, so I wondered if there is a couple price since we don't need the dinner, guests, (I plan on ordering one of the small speciality cakes, if someone can tell me if they taste good)-- any help, comments, etc.?
  9. Hi yall! Wondering if you can help me (even with estimated roundabouts) concerning the spa bueaty day. We're going in Oct of next year, and having been four years since our wedding day, my husband and I plan to DOOD it up for a formal night, with the intentions the same day of hitting the photo studios and get some professional pictures done. Can you give me a guestimation of a cost for hair sstyle (I'd be satisfied with wash, blowdry adn curl/style), makeup and refresher on my artifical nails. Has well, will phot studis tkae mutliple like what were requesting (as if we were walking into a land studio for several hsots/positions? I emailed carnival trying to get info thru email (since I can't see my e-ddocs until fully paid), and wondering how much adn if it would be worth it. I have severe facial rashs (rosecea and psoriasis) so very few pics are taken of me, and I want o give my hub something to really remember. Brandee
  10. Hi all! Planning in advance (depending on how our solo virgin cruise livesd up) for a summer 2011 cruise with my (then) 18 y/o daughter for a graduation gift and my 14 y/o stepson. Looking for anyone who's cruised with kids-- what are our best arrangements for cabins? It would be myself, my husband, and the two kids. i don't think either of the kids would be willing to share a cabin together (between age adn them being related by marraige, not really see each other very much becuase of custody schedules), so would it just be best that th guys get a cabin and girls get a cabin, or spring for larger room that accomodates all four? do the cruises give kids a hard time being unchaperoned on deck? i want us to have a vacation, but don't want to be tied to the hips for days to the kids.... if you took kids, what did they like best and least about the cruise? any suggestions on a fmaily friendly cruise? we are using carnival (departing from baltimore, but not sure if we'd use them for the entire family) for ourselves, but open for other cruises-- alot of it boils down to cost for all four of us. we don't think momma will agree with us to get child a passport, but I've read closed loop tours allow people to get away with a photo id and birth certificate- anyone in experience with that? I appreciate all the help adn look forward to any answers- Brandee Read and post cruise reviews
  11. Hello All! It's great to find a site where I can ask all my redundant cruise virgin questions! My name is Brandee, and my husband John will be taking our first cruise on Halloween 2011 out of Baltimore to Nassau, Freeport, and Port Canaveral on the Carnival Pride (delebrating his 50th bday and our never taken anniversary from three years ago.) We'd love any hints comments, etc. that would make us more prepared and not as stand-outish on our first time. Anything like menu lists, bar costs, what not to miss or what should we skip completely. We are booked at 4211 (number correct?) on Deck 8A (the small deck of course). Depending on this trip willhelp us determine whether we take a family cruise the following summer with (then) 18 y/o daughter for a graduation gift, and John's (then 14 y/o son). We are hoping the rules don't change that we can get away will a birth certicate then (in our catalog, a closed loop cruise only requires ID and birth cert) cause momma won't g with us for passport for child. But that's still long away....any suggestions, comments, etc from the peanut gallery?
  12. Thanks to all- can't wait to find MD cruisers who may eventually meet up! Looking forward to any education you can provide!
