"We had a good time, but were greatly disappointed in the Conquest. It did not measure up to our previous experiences on Carnival."

COMPLETE REVIEW

We have sailed on many of the Carnival Fantasy and Destiny class ships. We love the Destiny class and as the Conquest was newer and bigger, we were expecting great things. This was definitely not the case. The bathroom in our balcony stateroom was about 1/2 the size as in the Destiny class ships. It was impossible to take a shower without completely flooding the bathroom. We called this to our room steward's attention and he told us not to worry about it as it was common on the ship.

The decline in the quality of the food was quite noticable. The orange juice was so watered down, it tasted more like water with a faint orange taste. The scrambled eggs appeared to be "watered down" also. The steaks in the main dining room were very thin, I woud guess 1/2" thick at the very most. They were sirloin steaks and I tried them on 2 different nights, and both nights they were not of a good quality.

Most nights, there was only one show, instead of the normal 2. This production occurred at 10:30. The few times we went, If you did not arrive 45 minutes early, you weren't going to get a seat. The quality of the shows was definitely not up to usual Carnival standards.

As I said, we had a good time as we were with dear friends and we were on a cruise, but we will not sail on the Conquest again. Our friend commented that maybe they had made so many cutbacks due to the higher cost of fuel. At that time, we did not know about Carnival's new fuel surcharge. I think they have more than made up for the extra cost in the other areas that I stated.
