  1. I found an excellent deal today for Norwegian Dawn 7 nights to St. Thomas..etc ports. I purchased the cruise on impulse and glad that I did. We only paid $140 for each of the kids, so total 4 people, 2000$ with port cost and taxes. Going the Week of December 16th - 23rd. Perfect for me, this will be the first cruise where I'm not back to work on Monday, as I'll be off over christmas. My only fear is that we end up with flight delays and don't get home for christmas, but since the 4 of us will be together, I'm sure it will be fine. When I took the kids to disney and supposed to fly back on the 23rd, it was a flight nightmare. Anyway...I"m excited to get back on the boat and to go to 4 ports I haven't been to. I have chosen NCL again, 3rd time, but different ship this time...because I like the Freestyle atmosphere, especially with the kids. Since this is my Third NCL Cruise, any tips on how to get an upgrade?? So excited... Missy

  6. HOLY SNOW STORM!!! I have to drive 2 1/2 hours today to get to where I fly out of, and they are talking 40 mph winds and snow, sleet. I have a honda civic hybrid, so any of you that have small cars know and live in the winter, know what I am talking about. Did call my boss and I am getting out of work today at 12:00 so that's good. boy oh boy...at least i'll appreciate the warm weather even more now!!!
  7. Wow, I"m gonna have the whole boat to myself....lol.....
  8. You know, cruise ships are pretty big, it's not too hard to avoid someone on a cruise ship...lol....i know, maybe not nice, but true.

  12. You guys are so great!!! I know, today I am just at work and from all day yesterday, it just brought me down, but reading your supportive posts and what you said, about saving and scrimping to take this trip. For me, it's get new furniture or take a cruise....easy choice...lol...... I'm so glad that you understand and I was worried about coming off as negative because this is such an upbeat website... so come on everybody LETS PARTY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOO HOOOOOOO
  13. Okay all, I just have to say something....It's monday, I'm at work, and it is very cold outside. I start my vacation on Thursday at about 5:00 but everyone knows by traveling time(LOL) that means 6:30 at the soonest. My son and I (who insists on having blue hair for this cruise) will drive 2 hours to Madison, spend the night in a hotel that offers some free coctails, oh yeah, then catch our flight to Ft. Lauderdale on Friday. We then have a hotel in Hollywood, florida for the evening, then off to the port on Saturday. I just can't wait, work never sucks so bad until the week of your vacation. Some people are nice and excited for you, while others just give attitude, and it's funny because they just choose not to enjoy life like us crazies. I budget my money well, and am a smart spender so that I can enjoy at the very least 4 vacations a year, so it's not my fault that they choose not to...oh kay..venting over, but I am sure others here can understand my need to get that off my chest... My son and I are so looking forward to this trip together, mother and son, pre-teen friendship cruise is what we are calling it. I am so excited for him to see life outside of the United States. I just can't wait until Thursday!!!!!!! I love cruising...it's just the best!!!! The people, the atmosphere, the ocean, the ports, the parties....it's simply the funnest vacations of all. Just put on your swimsuit, grab a foo foo drink and simply enjoy life.
  14. I'll take two!!!! Or maybe Three...lol.....
  15. I prefer the inside cabins in the center of the ship to the balcony's. I think that the dancing sunlight in the room off the water would make me motion sick as I am prone to that. When I book my cabin, I make sure that I am in between two decks that are purely cabins decks. I know a lady was complaining on board that her room was directly under the aerobic center and she could hear music and thumping around above her head at 6 am. I also heard the center of the ship is the least amount of motion, which is what I have experienced also and say that I will always book this way. Good luck, and I am sure that if you want to change state rooms, they will allow you if there is still availability.
  16. I sail out this saturday, I found the wristbands at walgreens for like 6$ a pair, and I guess you have to wear one on both wrists. Hopefully I won't need them if the pina coloda's are flowing..lol....
  17. We took a taxi to the actual town of costa maya, it is very small, and the villagers are very poor. they are tyring to build this area up. I enjoyed fresh lobster cooked on the beach by a local, sat in the shade, and enjoyed a dip in the ocean. Then cabbed back to the port, where there is bands and enjoyment, and shopping. Watch what bills you give to the bartenders there though, handed a hundred dollar bill, and had to ask for my change, and he was like oh yes, and gave me change for a 20, and I was like no way...you bring my change now! So, other than that, was fun.
  18. One word of advice for a first cruise...DO NOT USE THE TELEPHONES!!! On the norwegian Sun they charged over 7$ a minute, I had a $150 phone bill for calling home and there was not posting anywhere in the room about this. Other than that, I would have only spent about 300$ on board but it put it up a bit higher than that with the phone bill...Find out how your local phone card handles international calls and make your calls from inside the city, not on the port. You will get charged extra if you call from the port also. Good luck.
  19. Yes, the patch gave me every side effect printed. Although, due to the blurred vision side effect I couldn't read the "side effect warnings" on the medication leaflet...go figure, but I did call the on ship nurse, and she advised I remove it immediatly. After I could see again (the next day) I had about every side effect possible for those patches. LOL... Where do you get those wrist bands? Sailing in 16 days...whoo hooo...I can't wait to go again. I am a true cruise junkie!
  20. I have had what I call "sea to land sickness". I made the mistake of not taking that first day after the cruise off from work, and the whole building was moving on me, and the funny thing is, i was never sick on the ship and hardly noticed it moving at all...but then i'm sure all the foo foo drinks I had, sure helped me not notice my "sea legs"...lol!! It did take a few days for it to go completely away, but you know, it's totally worth it....i will try the dramamine after I get back this time if I have the same symptoms. i did use the patch but had too many adverse side affects. Like, I really could not see anything not even 4 inches from my face, and I have 20/20 vision. I couldn't even read the box to see the side effects of the motion sickness patches...had to call the boat doctor..so once I removed it, i was back to normal, but it didn't affect my good time...drown those side effects with beer..lol..
