Since we've been on lines that other Crazies haven't been on, and haven't been on the ones most sailed by Crazies (Carnival and Royal Carib.),we'll rate the five lines on which we've sailed, on a scale where the best is an 100, and going down from there: 1) Radisson/Regent 100 2) Windstar 95 3) Holland America 80 4) Celebrity 70 5) Regal (Empress) 60 Now for the "why". Radisson rooms were huge, the entertainment on our jazz cruise was fabulous, the small ship feeling was terrific, and the people, both PAX and crew, were the friendliest we've encountered. It was also a great feeling not to have to tip, and not to be nickle and dimed everywhere we went on the ship. The food was fabulous, and the included wine was great. Windstar sailing is a unique and wonderful experience, and our Med. itinerary was the best yet. Service and food were as good as Radisson. No entertainment to speak of, but who needed it on this port intensive itin.? Again, we loved the small ship experience. Staterooms were much smaller than Radisson, but bigger and much better laid out than Celebrity. HAL was the best mass market line we've been on. Food, service, and entertainment were better than other mass market lines (although not as good as Radisson & Windstar), and the rooms were much better than on Celebrity or Regal. Celebrity would score higher if the staterooms were larger and better laid out. Most service was equal to HAL, but we had our only bad cabin attendant on X. Food and entertainment were slightly below HAL, which was a surprise to us given the reputaion of the X food. The Regal Empress was a beautiful old ship, with surprisingly good food and service; but the staterooms were not up to the standards of the other cruise lines.
