  1. Shebbieal, welcome to this crazy board. Post often, and soon you'll go from inside to outside, to balcony room. This isn't the biggest cruise board, but it's the friendliest!
  2. Thanks, Joey and Hamster. We had today's paper, but not any online links.
  3. In today's (Tuesday, 4/11) Wall Street Journal there is an article on the difficulties cruise lines are having in filling ships to the Caribbean, particularly cruises under a week. It seems that the Smith case, last year's hurricanes, the Celebrity excursion tragedy, the girl who disappeared in Aruba, and the Princess fire have cause a lot of people to cancel or not book cruises and other trips to the Caribbean. If you book a short cruise within the next few weeks, you may get terrific rates. Cruises for next fall and winter don't offer similar bargains. Unfortunately, trips to places such as Alaska and Europe are selling out at premium prices, so there are few great bargains to be had in those area. If you're lucky enough to be able to travel on short notice, give it a try.
  4. Have a wonderful trip, angelsflying. Since the cruise isn't on the meeting room board, we don't know what ship you'll be on, or how many family members will be sailing with you. Enjoy both the cruise and the get together!
  5. We're astounded that there's a service charge for chips on any line. On Windstar and Radisson there was no charge. On Celebrity, not only is there no charge; but if you make even a minor pretense of gambling, the casino becomes, in effect, a source of cash that can be charged to your room. Assuming you get either miles or a rebate on your charge card, that means, in effect, that you get $100 at a cost of $98 or $99.

  7. Have a great cruise. We hope you have cause for Celebration on the Celebration.

  10. That sounds like a wonderful trip, but not a warm one. Bring a small amount of light weight clothing, but assume that weather will mostly be in the 50s and 60s. You'll probably have four formal nights, so you should bring lots of very nice dresses or elegant pants suits, while your DH should bring at least one txu or dark suit, maybe two.
  11. Welcome, 'fraid. We do have general packing lists: see the tab labeled "packing list" on the right, near the top of the CC banner. Other than that, we'd need to know your gender, the length of the trip, the start and end of the trip, and what you'll do afterwards. Obviously a man crossing from NYC to London, then going on to northern Europe, would need very different clothing than a woman crossing from Miami to the Mediterranean and spending a few days in Italy.
  12. You're welcome. As you can see, we try to do things for each other. In one case, a CC member's daughter lost a beloved t-shirt, and another CC member who was cruising on that ship bought one for her.
  13. JohnG, have a fantastic spring break and a wonderful cruise!<]

  15. fraidofwater, welcome to this crazy board. Post often, and soon you'll go from inside to outside, to balcony room. This isn't the biggest cruise board, but it's the friendliest! Of course, if you were really 'fraidofwater, you wouldn't be on a cruise board.
  16. Have a great time. Balconies are great. Contrary to common opinion, you'll still feel able to do without a boacony after you've tried one (But you'd rather have one).
  17. Here's the first response. BTW, Cruiseclues is not a competitive board, it's a web site put up by a couple that likes to share cruise information and links. The posting IS from another cruise board, so I can't give its name. Joanandjoe, Yes there is a casual dining every night in the Windsurf Cafe. I know there are nights when some folks just want to relax after a long day in port. When we were on the Horizon just before she left the fleet more than a few people did this. By the way...the Sushi is wonderful also. It is served at the same time on the other side of the Windsurf. I found a sample menu for you at www.cruiseclues.com .Just click on menues on the home page and scroll down til you see Horizon or Zenith. Hope this helps. Jeff

  19. The trick, Popsec, is to find someone who has sailed recently on the Zenith. It may be different from other X ships, since most of the others have true alternative restaurasnts. If memory serves, and it may not, on our Horizon (sister ship to the Zenith, now sadly moved to a cheapo line owned by the same parent) cruise, the buffet area is divided into two halves. One is a sushi bar, every night. The other half, I think, was a casual restaurant on a few, but not all nights. You picked up your own salads and desserts, but were served the main course by waiters. (I think that's right; but I may be confusing this with HAL.) Aside from yours, the only review of Zenith was back in 2004, by zstkbrkr. I haven't seen postings recently by this member; so maybe you're the only one active on this board who has been on ths ship. I've asked your question on another board, and will get back here if I get any answers.
