NORFOLK, Va.

Norfolk's going to be a launching point for Royal Caribbean Cruises.

The ships of the world's second-largest cruise operator will sail from Norfolk starting in April 2007. The ships will travel between Norfolk and Bermuda for 15 seven-day voyages between April 20th and July 27th.

Norfolk's 36 (m) million-dollar downtown cruise terminal is scheduled to open next March.

In the past year, three carriers have left or have announced their intentions to leave Norfolk for various reasons. Before the Royal Caribbean announcement, the only line scheduled to operate from the new terminal next year was Carnival Cruises, the world's largest cruise line.
