This year, Starwalk participants may even get to enjoy a luxurious holiday on board a cruise ship.

Amongst the sponsors of the walkathon is Star Cruises and it is giving away a three-night stay on its biggest cruise liner, Superstar Virgo.

“The package is worth RM5,440 and it is in our ocean view state cabin,” said Star Cruises marketing communication manager Adeline Wong.

The seven-year-old cruise liner makes stops at Singapore, Langkawi, Bangkok and Phuket Island.

“Seeing that the walk is to be in Penang, we thought visiting the island would be a nice treat,” said corporate communications assistant director Callie Lim.

The cruise liner has 980 cabins and has 10 restaurants on board.

Besides that, the cruise also offers activities like sports and fitness facilities, health and beauty spas and gaming centres for children.

“We want to be part of this exciting sporting event as it promotes healthy living,” said Callie.

“It is also our main goal to provide a platform for families to get together for such a lifestyle.”

This is the third time that Star Cruise has come on board as a Starwalk sponsor.

Starwalk 2006 is jointly organised by Star Publications (M) Bhd and the Penang Amateur Athletics Association (PAAA). It will be held on Sunday.

The participants will be flagged off at the Penang International Sports Arena in Relau at 7am. The main sponsors are Panasonic, Milo, Yakult and Tiger Balm.
