    It's also where our politicians hang out so the odor gets a bit fetid at times - but our parliament buildings (right on the waterfront) are a must see, especially at night as is the Empress Hotel - I hear you can get High tea there for about 50 bucks a pop lol.

    Very easy - it is an island - if you drive to far you get wet LOL There are guide books all over the place.

    Sooke is also only a short drive - and they have some great restaurants and a park called Wiffenspit - beautiful scenery.

    I imagine they would pick you up at the ship - it's only a short walk into town anyway - but not sure where the car rentals would be. We have walked off in ports and been picked up in the past.

    You might even try renting a car for the day. If you do that be sure to visit Fort Rodd Hill. It has an amazing light house. It was built to fend of Japanese attacks in WW 1.

    And it looks like you walk off the ship in Seattle right at Pike Place Market - great place to browse and lots of great Seafood Restaurants.

    Go with the tour - safer that way - and you won't want to rush. I took over 5 hours in the gardens - Hugh was whale watching so I took my time :o) It should be the perfect time of year too!
