Every island in the Caribbean has its own "special" drink, and here in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, it is the "Bushwacker." Every bartender on island knows how to make them, and there are some variations, but this is the standard recipe. Tastes just like a chocolate milkshake...but be careful! It ain't no milkshake! Ever heard of a "virgin" drink? A "virgin" Bushwacker is a glass of ICE!! Haha! Multiply ingredients by the number of drinks you want. This recipe will make one drink. 1 servings 4 min prep 1/2 ounce rum (Cruzan is the best, but use whatever brand you have) 1/2 ounce vodka (any brand) 1/2 ounce Baileys Irish Cream (or a similar off-brand name) 1/2 ounce Kahlua (or a coffee flavored off-brand name) 1/2 ounce amaretto liqueur (any brand) 1/2 ounce chococo chocolate-flavored liqueur 1/2 ounce Frangelico (I recommend it) (optional) 1/2 ounce creme de coconut (a MUST - "Coco Lopez" is best) 1 cup crushed ice (more or less to make the proper consistency) 3 dashes of grated nutmeg 1 tablespoon whipped cream 1 maraschino cherry

I've been to St. Thomas more times than I can count. Honestly, the people are miserable (unless you're giving them money) but the island is quite nice. Havensight (where the ship docks) is a neat little shopping centre, and if you need basics, there is a K-Mart just up the road. Magen's Bay is the famous beach, and it's actually really nice. Charlotte Amalie is a cute little town, but honestly if you have the time...go to St. John. Much nicer, and the people are friendlier. I worked on ships, so I had a different experience there, and got pretty burned out on the extremely rude and superficial nature of the people. They're very insincere, and are only friendly when they know you're giving them cash. My suggestion, go to St. John...or Magen's Bay. Oh, and make sure you drink a Bushwhacker! Don't leave the island without trying one. You can get them at Magen's Bay, and at the top of the Skyride (and probably a lot of other places too).

The Red Dog is pretty sweet...although, usually the souveniers you get from there only last through the next day...and aren't usually all that appreciated ;)

My mom bought a set of wooden salad tongs that look like bear claws when we were up there. She loves them! I don't usually buy souveniers, but "Alaskan Amber" beer from the Alaskan Brewing company is something I wish I saw here more often! But, I usually just take photos, those are souveniers enough for me...

I agree that this incident should be taken seriously, and that the bridge crew should be held accountable for a potential environmental DISASTER in one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world. This is not a remote area with poor charts...this is Santorini, one of the most popular cruise destinations in the Med. There is NO excuse for this, and whoever was asleep at the wheel should have the book thrown at them...and then some. This gives cruising a bad name, and hopefully the people in charge of cleaning it up get to it quickly before we lose another beautiful destination to carelessness. My map isn't working...hmm. It works when I build an html page and drop in into it, but not on here for some weird reason. Oh well....maybe it's just something that takes time. It's telling me that I've visited 51 countries (22%), but you'd never know it from my map!

Weird...I just tried to put one of those "visited countries" maps that everyone has into my signature, but it's showing that I've only ever been to Germany! Haha...weird. Honestly, I've never seen another group of webmasters who are so insecure about their audience...what gives? People have 'back' buttons on their browsers... Can't believe 'journals' can become a dirty word...but I guess it has. Still the best forum on cruising though...shame there's no confidence in how good the community actually is on the part of the webmaster.

There is a video that shows the ship listing and sinking (not 100%) but I can't post it here. It's on my forum, but I'm not promoting my forum! You can watch it on YouTube as well. That's where I found it first. One of our posters linked the video to my site. I just got home and will find that photo of the sunset in Santorini that I took...love the shot. I think you've seen it before Joey, but I'll share it with the others. Hmm...I found it, but I can't just upload it to the forum? I'll drop it on my server and post a link then.

Maybe they hit Atlantis...some people believe that the lost city of Atlantis is in that lagoon. I have to say that I saw one of the prettiest sunsets of my life there. I have a photo, but can't find it right now.
