  1. I know that many of you here are frequent and repeat cruisers. Do you get discounts for taking trips on cruiselines you've used before?
  2. To be honest, I love utilizing the movie theaters on the ships and I did see several movies on my cruises, but doesn't it feel a little weird to pay all this money for a cruise to go the movies? LOL I thought it was weird even when I did it.
  3. One of the first things I learned on my first cruise is that they take pictures everywhere. I bought them all, too, so you know that was costly. It was just so exciting. I have to admit that they made a big oops, though, which I still bemoan. It got me a lot of free photos on my second cruise though. Ever buy these pictures or have problems like I did?
  4. You know, one of the things that I always have to fight is the urge to buy too many souvenirs. I'm going to new places and I want the memories. I buy at the ports of call and on the ship. Ugh. What about you?
  5. Yeah. I think the difference could be if you are cruising for the places you're going or just to relax on a ship. Repeat goers may have different expectations as mentioned here.
  6. There's a lot of renovating going on for the economic times. I suppose that's a good thing, and this fits carnival's needs from what I understand.
  7. I don't think I could cope with an inside cabin. I want to see the ocean and have that feeling of freedom. Otherwise I'm just too closed in.
  8. My first captain was very outgoing. He loved to visit with the guests. He would shout up to us from the ... uh -- what do you call them -- the sides of the bridge they use to make sure they don't hit anything ...lol. I liked him a lot.
  9. Just what every bride wants, a tiara to formally make her a queen. LOL I have a hunch this isn't the last W/K specialty cruise idea that we'll see.
  10. Have you gone on a cruise where you end up seeing and associating with the same captain? Do you like conversing with ship's captains?
  11. Howdy ! I am actually new here so getting to know folks and hear about their experiences.
  12. That's the wonderful thing about cruises, there are so many wonderful memories to be made, on and off the ships.
  13. I've never gone on a Norweigan Cruise Line event. I'm not sure I want to. I just remember that one of their ships had a problem at a port of call we arrived at that had folks talking alot. New suites sound good though but where are they moving the cinema to?
  14. That's true about the quiet. I remember thinking that it just felt like I had the back of the ship to myself. Every night I went outside and communed with the ocean and the stars. I think twice other people were out there and no one was in the spa there.
  15. Some agreement here! I loved my back cabin. It felt like a private balcony. Hardly anyone used it so I could just go outside and have the place to myself. It was awesome.
  16. It's interesting to see what folks do. I like to go ashore and she what is happening. I want to experience the culture and just have some fun. Of course, maybe if I've been there many times, it would become old.
  17. I'd lose my proverbial shirt. LOL I'm afraid that I'm not a gambler but I certainly know that many people are. I'm sure they will enjoy the tournament a great deal.
  18. LOL I'm sorry you're having a tough time. The only suggestion I can make is a google search. My cruises were before 2002, but they were long ones, 2 and 3 weeks. Loved them.
  19. It does sound like you are probably having a great time on the Glory today. I certainly hope so!
  20. The ships I've been on were pretty nice sizes. I think both were the big ships of their era for Princess or close to it. They were bigger than the TV's Love Boat ships which were still floating around at the time. I wonder if they are still out there.
  21. That is a nice article. I wish I'd been around for the start. Of course, I'd already taken my first cruises by then. LOL I feel old. <g>
  22. Are they back? lol Sorry I'm new here but hello, happy birthday, and hope you have/are having/or had a great voyage! :}
  23. The whale event made me just love Princess as a company. These whales had been alongside us for a while and at first, it was all just gazing, but one whale was acting a bit odd. They told us they weren't sure if the whale was showing off, which I guess they do, or if it was injured. They conferred with the whale experts over the radio and then announced we were turning around to go back and observe this whale for a while to get a better idea of its condition. People applauded. We arrived a little late at the next port, but o one cared. Turning around was the talk of the cruisegoers, and we are all happy when they announced that after watching closely for quite a while that the whale was just being a show off for us. Great show, Whale! He was swimming along quite nicely when we finally went on our way. I have never forgotten it.
  24. I'm pretty much a Princess cruiser. I've had great success with them. Still, if I could afford it, I might do it, but economics just don't allow it right now. Sorry.
  25. I know a lot of people who are perfectly content to spend their entire voyage on the ship. They don't take any excursions and rarely disembark at ports of call. Others love shore excursions. Where do you stand on the topic?
