Wow, dooney, you worked at Disney and never took advantage of those amazing Cast Member rates on a Disney Cruise?!?

Hmmm, apologies to Mr. Webb, but this sounds a little bit like the scare tactics we’ve heard bad travel agents use (don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of fantastic travel agents out there!). Stuck on the ship, noisy room, lose your luggage, pay too much, gain weight… I guess it is “good advice” but the writing style just doesn’t click for me. We’ve talked to hundreds of fist-time cruisers during our travels and we’ve rarely heard many complaints.

These are things I thought they were already doing. Oh well, it should be easy enough to implement these things and it’ll be an improvement for sure.

Watch out – it’s easy to get hooked on cruising! We sailed aboard Allure of the Seas back in October 2011 and had a fantastic cruise! The entertainment was unbelievable and it’s definitely worth planning your time so as not to miss any of the shows. Take a look at your itinerary for how long you’re in port and verify what dining time you’ve got, then go online and put in your reservations. As for dining, our favorite place for breakfast and lunch was the Solarium Bistro – but be sure to try the roast beef sandwich in the Park Café! Relax and enjoy your vacation! Hi Bill! We’ve been to Belize three times – snorkeled twice and went cave tubing once – but we have looked at the Mayan ruins excursions. Xunantunich looks like the more extensive ruins but it’s a two-hour bus ride each way. Altun Ha is only 45 minutes on the bus each way but I don’t think those ruins will be quite as impressive. If you pick Altun Ha I would go with the river tour option over the city tour – we drove through the city on our way to cave tubing and it wasn’t much to look at. These were just the options we saw through Carnival; there might be something else through another tour operator. Have you been to any other Mayan ruins on your previous cruises?

We might have considered this a few years ago – depending on who we were cruising with – but it’s probably not worth it for us anymore. Also, we’ve been on enough cruises that a lot of the cruise lines invite us to events with free drinks many/most nights each sailing. But we certainly have friends who would think this is a fantastic deal!

Hi Stephie! We won’t be on that cruise (we’re on Celebrity Summit the week before) but we sailed Carnival Destiny last year and had a fantastic time! Happy cruising!

While it’s no surprise that “Disney Cruise Line was recognized as the Most Family-Oriented Cruise Line” I think it’s going a bit far to call them “the pioneers of the family market in the cruise industry”. I clearly remember several cruise lines that were taking fantastic care of families long before Disney built their first cruise ship. Of course Disney wrote the press release themselves, so it may not be entirely unbiased.
